You dont send SS lv3 to activate his effect on the end phase but on the next standby phase(yours) just though i would clear that up.And to your question yes it will return the same end phase.

You can't put any card in face up defense position just put it facedown and wait till it gets flipped.When it is destroyed it goes to the graveyard and NOT RFG.
