He would destroy the monster without being destroyed himself. Skipping damage calculation means that he skips the part of the damage step that would destroy him in battle.
As long as the condition is right (the monster is the correct Attribute and you have the corresponding Disciple in the Graveyard) and your Disciple is doing the attacking, yes he can destroy a bigger monster and survive the attack himself.
If you are the controller of Disciple of the Forbidden Spell, and YOU attack a declared monster, no Damage Calculation is performed, and the monster is destroyed by effect, not Battle.
