Ancient Gear Golem and Beast...

Tkwiget

Da Twiggy Man!
I was wondering exactly the the kind of cards Ancient Gear Golem and Ancient Gear Beast would prevent from being activated. Would this cards be Quick-Play spells such as Rush Recklessly and traps such as Mirror Wall? But aren't those activated from the declaration of an attack and not merely the during Step 2 of the Battle Phase. I mean, it would make since right?

I am just having trouble understanding the last line of their text.

But I am guessing on this, a wild one at that.

If each Ancient Gear monster states that the opponent can't activate spell and trap cards until the end of the end of the Damage Step, this means cards like Mirror Force and Sakuretsu Armor wouldn't work right?

I am trying to cover all possible angles. Thinking of some new Beatdown or Control tech for a deck later on that I might plan to make.

Your opponent cannot activate ANY set cards after the declaration of the attack until the end of the Damage Step.

That means Quick Plays, Normal Traps, Continuous Traps, Counter Traps, etc...

So no, "Mirror Force" and "Sakuretsu Armor" would not work because they couldn't be activated.

Any face-up Spell/Traps can still be activated at their Appropriate time. Cards like "Ultimate Offering", "Ordeal of a Traveler", provided they were ALREADY face-up BEFORE the attack declaration.

Hope this helps!

Awesome, that's the ruling I was leaning towards. Crap! I gave someone an inaccurate ruling! T_T I better go fix that...

Well thanks, I was hoping it was like that because then I can stop cards like Sakuretsu Armor and stuff. Another words Ancient Gear Beast and Golem are better much upgraded Mirage Dragon and Pitch-Black Warwolf. =) I like that idea! Thanks for clearing up the confusion. I tend to see both sides of the picture nearly 95% of the time. So, I am glad the confusion was cleared up.

Well actually, There's nothing to stop your opponent activating scpaegoat, Waboku etc (such cards that don't have activation requirements) when you say that you want to enter your battle phase, since it isn't the battle step yet and the ancient mechanical monsters cannot prevent such things.

(Mind you, what sort of moron would use Scapegoat against an impending Ancient Gear Golem?)

...or the simple card of Kuriboh...that card can be the bane of these monsters...especially after powering them up with Limiter x2 or 3....

Right now I'm trying to get the cards, to build up a deck around that one card (AGG), scrapping my machine/chaos deck for the time being.

But it would still be possible to pull a "before you end your main phase 1" on your opponent with a Gravity Bind or Wall of Revealing Light, right?

Yes. But then your opponent would be able to continue their main phase. possibly [special] summoning a monster that could ignore those 2 cards.

Both players have the opportunity to activate cards during the "Start Step" of the Battle Phase (before the first attack is declared). This might be a better time to activate
