I would like to extend my congratulations to general Caesar for his recent victory over stupidity.

I would also like to warn President Lincoln that his legacy shall ultimately bring about the division of the Empire and the Huns will overcome us.

I'd wait for Captain Archer, but I don't think he's coming. That means I'll have to reinstate slavery.

*gets axe*

Umm, have you actually read the proposed bill? This article is scewed quite a bit. And I say this not necessarily in defense of the President, but.... well, for example,
"No court, justice, or judge shall have jurisdiction to hear or consider any claim or cause of action whatsoever, including any action pending on or filed after the date of the enactment of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, relating to the prosecution, trial, or judgment of a military commission under this chapter, including challenges to the lawfulness of procedures of military commissions under this chapter."
leaves out the very important beginning of the quote. Actually, to be honest, the above quotation needs to begin with an elipsis, as it leaves out this:
Provisions of Chapter Sole Basis for Review of Military Commission Procedures and Actions- Except as otherwise provided in this chapter and notwithstanding any other provision of law (including section 2241 of title 28 or any other habeas corpus provision)....... [picks up at above quoteation]

Now, the key term here is Review. This relates to post-trial, post-appeal, final review of the case for legality. AFTER this review, there will be no more court reviews, appeals or jdugements. In other words, nobody will be allowed to tie up the courts for decades like they do in the civillian world.

I am still looking for that other quote "which labels all American citizens who breach their 'allegiance' to President Bush and the actions of his government as terrorists subject to possible arrest, torture and conviction in front of a military tribunal." So far, i haven't found it, but it's a big document.
