I was wondering, is there any reason why I should have the 3 movie monster cards in my trading binder, or should I pretty much assume no one wants them and just cast them aside?
There's always somebody that wants everything. Just look at the business eBay has built on standard everyday garage sale stuff!
They're not worth much, though. Why not keep them and make a fun little deck with them instead? You'd be surprised at how well they can actually work. In a fun deck, that is
Keep um... i think if you really use your brain and imagination.... you can figure out how you can use them well in a deck... things like A Hero Emerges, and Monster Gate could come in handy...
Never mind that using just 1 Trap Card and 500 LP can Special Summon those Tribute monsters like it was nothing. The cards average. With the proper support and proper themed Deck they can be good.
I've got the three from my last trip the Japan Pavillion in EPCOT Center that I've been hanging on to forever. One of these days I'm going to do something with these guys when everyone has forgotten about them.
Master Oblivious everyone.. give him a hand...hahhaha.. jk.. the Sphinxes from the movie.. theinen, andro, and Teleia... want to know if there is a reason to hold on to those cards, let alone play them...
Hang on to everything . You never know when they will become great. Remember when everyone thought that Shapesnatch was an appalling card? Now they are rueing the day they tossed their copies of it.
Did I say Shapesnatch? I really meant Armored Starfish. A true powerhouse of a card...
But seriously, hold onto everything. Look at Skull Servant. It has a halfway playable deck based around it now. The sphinxes have always had that. TER was considered good, but relatively unplayable by most. Then came along a rules change on flipping...
Personally, I would love to see some more support for the older normal monsters. Something to make Garnecia Elefantis worth playing, or even Shapesnatch... Something for the veterans out there.
The fusions that only came out in the OCG for most of the normal monsters maybe?
The Sphinx monsters can be really fun to play in an Ante deck. They do have a tendency to create some very bad draws (read as reliability makes it hazardous in tournament play). They may not win every game, but when they don't stall from bad draws they hit very hard and fast.
Garnecia Elefantis is playable. Nobody bothers to use it because why use that Tribute monster in their Beast & Beast-Warrior Decks when there are better ones? I actually used him in my Beast & Beast-Warrior Deck just because he is superior to all others. He is Garnecia Elefantis, only ever to be beaten by a vanilla 1850 Flying Dumbo Elephant card.
you can also use them in conjunction with cards like Card Destruction, Lightning Vortex, and others that make you dump cards to the grave.... then either send them out of play and summon them back in with Return from the Different Dimension or Dimension Fusion. (there are also other cards you can use...) ......... OR massive recursion... Premature, call, shallow grave, etc... stuff to get them out....
so yeah.. there ARE multiple ways to use them, but you have to be creative... there are always ways to summon something besides the traditional means...
