Assault on GHQ

"Select 1 monster on your side of the field to activate this card. Destroy the selected card and send 2 cards from the top of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard."

Looks like to destroy a monster isn't a activation cost, but is an effect, right?

It is an effect, selecting the monster is the only activation cost.

However, to fullfill the requirement, you must destroy the monster through the effect to correctly resolve this effect.

And so, I suppose is not legal to play Soul Exchange to tribute an opponent's monster for the effect of this card, because this is not a tibute, but an effect to destroy a monster...right?

Please, help me: why links to the cards doesn't appear in the posts I wrote? Do I have to change something in the options of my profile?

Correct, it is an effect that destroys a monster. Soul Exchange would not work in this case.

Before you place your post by "Submit Reply", view the menu a little below that. There should be a menu that is "checked in the box" that says "Disable Yu-Gi-Oh! card auto-linking." Just uncheck it.

If you've already submit a post, quickly Edit on your post, and it resubmit your post. When you do this, your Edit page should already have Yu-Gi-Oh! card auto-linkin feature already unchecked.

I hate to bring this back, but I have another question regarding "Assault on GHQ".

Here's the scenario:

Player A has a face-up "Tribe", and 2 face-up "Spirit Reapers", and a face down "Assault on GHQ".
Player B has no monsters on the field, "Snatch Steal" in hand, and a set "MST" from a previous turn.
It's Player B's turn.
Player B activates "Snatch Steal" targeting "Tribe".
Player A chains with "Assault on GHQ" choosing "Tribe" as the monster to destroy.
Player B chains with his set "MST" targeting the "Assault on GHQ".

Does "Tribe" still get destroyed?
Does "Assault on GHQ" have to remain on the field until it completely resolves in order for it's effect to be successful?

Thanks.

It isn't an activation cost. An activation cost would be like Premature Burial, Confiscation, Solemn Judgment, Horn of Heaven, Magic Jammer, etc.. You discard at activation to get the effect. Assault on GHQ does no such thing.

As a result, a face up monster would be a activation requirement. Not cost.
