Barrel Behind the Door VS Ceasefire

You cannot activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against effects if you don't know for certain that they will inflict damage when the effect is activated. So you cannot activate it against "Dice Jar", "Judgment of Anubis", "Time Wizard" or "Ante". Your cannot activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against "Ceasefire" if all monsters on the field are face-down, or if all monsters on the field are face-up Normal Monsters, but you can activate it against "Ceasefire" if there is at least 1 face-up Effect Monster on the field.

This ruling doesn't explain completely the situation. Well, I'll do an example.

There are only 2 effect monsters on the field, one is a faced up, the other monster in faced down. Player A activates Ceasefire, Player B chains his Barrel Behind the Door, what happens?

I'm thinking Player A takes 500 lp of damage (because of the faced up monster and Barrel Behind the Door) and Player B takes the same amount of damage (because of the faced down monster), but I'm not sure...

Player A would either take 500 LP damage (if the facedown monster was a normal monster) or 1000 LP damage ( if the face down monster was an effect monster). Barrel Behind the Door would still redirect all the damage to Player A. BBtD doesn't care how much damage winds up being done to the player, it only checks to make sure that damage will definitely be done to make sure it's activation is legal. The source of all of the damage that would be done to Player B still comes from Ceasefire, that's when BBtD takes that damage and does it to Player A instead of Player B.

You cannot activate Ceasefire or The Spell Absorbing Life UNLESS there is at least 1 face-up Effect Monster, or, 1 face-down monster on either side of the field.

That said, if there are 1 face-up Effect type and 4 face-down Effect types (which may be unknown until flip up) when Ceasefire is activated, You have a "certain" 500 direct damage to your Opponent. When Ceasefire flips ALL monster cards face-up, the rest of the cards are found to be Effect types and that will be calculated into total damage of 2500.

This damage is eligible for Barrel Behind the Door since it is effect damage, and the total of 2500 would be redirected to the controller of Ceasefire.

While on the flip side, say you only have face-down cards and either no face-up monsters or say only effectless face-up monsters (like a "Blue-Eyes White Dragon"). Because you have face-down monsters, "Ceasefire" can be properly activated. However, you could NOT chain "Barrel Behind the Door" in this instance since it's possible "Ceasefire" will inflict no damage (Oh look! Flip everything up and see... a "Gemini Elf", "Dark Magician", 2 "Skull Servents" and a "Mokey Mokey". No damage).
