Battle Position.

If a card is special summoned without any other conditions about battle position ( such as Nimble's facedown defense through its own effect), can you pick the battle position of which the monster is special summoned in through cards like Monster Reborn, Premature Burial, and Call of the Haunted.

Yes, if it doesn't say which position you may choose attack or defence.

However "Facedown" is not a (battle) position. You must special summon face-up (if it says nothing about it.)

I have another question though...if a player uses Shallow Grave, the monsters are special summoned facedown...could you chain Torrential Tribute to this effect?

You may not Chain Torrential Tribute to The Shallow Grave.


When shallow grave resolves, you may then activate Torrential Tribute in response. Torrential Tribute doesn't care whether a monster was face-up or face-down if it was a special summon.
