Battle searchers and monster's with ? ATK

There seems to be a few monster's with ? ATK and/or DEF and I was wondering if those monster's can be searched out by the battle searchers.

For example, I have UFO Turtle on my side of the field, and it gets destroyed as a result of battle, can I search out special summon Gren Maju Da Eiza to the field?

as long as the monster has no special summoning requirements, you should be able to bring them out since technically thier attack at the time of the search is zero

No, not for the monsters whose base attack is "?". You can't bring them out because the attack cannot be definitely determined upon searching. It could be 1000 or 10000.

ah! i was wrong. oh well. live and learn...but thats why i like this place...because even when your wrong people don't bite your head off for it. thanks for the correction.

Is that really correct? I mean, I'm no expert, but if you use Skill Drain as an example...for the effect of Skill Drain, if you had a monster of ? atk or def, the ? value becomes 0.

I only ask...for the effect of searching, wouldn't the ? be treated as 0? (Once again just confused by contradictory rulings)

Not quite true acutally, only monsters with "?" stats because of a one time effect stay at zero when Skill Drain is used.

A card like gren maju des eiza will get back his ATK and DEF values when Skill Drain is removed since it constantly checks the number of cards you have removed from play.

Although: [Re: Skill Drain] The ATK and DEF of "Gradius' Option", the ATK of "Maju Garzett", and similar monsters is 0 while "Skill Drain" is active, and is not restored even if "Skill Drain" is destroyed.

This ruling doesn't seem to make sense since it is a constantly checking effect (and one which can even choose a new Gradius if it returns after something like IMT).
I never said it couldn't.

Gradius' Option forgets which target it chose, and since it was already on the field...
