Can Raging Flame Sprite attack directly, when ... ?

Can Raging Flame Sprite attack directly, wenn the Opponent have a face-up or face-down Monster on his Side?
When i see the Text and the Rules, i think to have the choice either to attack a Opponents Monster or to attack the Lifepoints.
Am i right?

Yes, you have a choice. Otherwise it would would be like any other monster's attack ability. But she has a special provision that lets you choose.
