Cards that increase atk of an specific monstr-type

Does a card like "Command Knight", increses its own attack or the effect only applies to other cards?

As long as at least 1 other monster exists on your side of the field, your opponent cannot select this card as an attack target. Also, as long as this card remains face-up on the field, increase the ATK of all Warrior-Type monsters by 400 points.

Command Knight does increase its own ATK by 400, along with your other Warrior-Type monsters. They made a mistake in the effect text. It should say "on your side of the field." Does anyone know if they have a ruling to confirm this?

Ruling, no. But there was a post on the judge's board (10698) by Kevin Tewart that states that the effect is your side of the field only.

Also, keep in mind (I know it might seem obvious, but the question might have left this as a loophole) that if Command Knight is changed to some other type by DNA surgery, he does not get the 400 ATK point bonus.

That is right. Although UDE has not posted any errata about this monster, you can clearly notice this correction in the official rulings of this card.

"If you control multiple "Command Knights", their effects are cumulative so each will increase all of your Warrior-Type monsters' ATK by 400 points."

But, Dlanaan, why did you refer to this monster as 'he'? She is a female warrior, IMO.

I honestly don't know. I generally refer to cards as 'it' to step aside from all that. I could see it as going either way, though, to be honest. The armor isn't massively bulky up front (see Maiden of the Aqua), but it is enough to raise the question? And I have not seen it in the anime, so I couldn't go from that (note that I thought Hysteric Fairy was male for a LONG time. )
