Opps, I meant CDIP-EN036. Sorry
Yay, another review for me. Anyway, today I'm doing a Fusion Monster that IMO is "somewhat" worthy in your Fusion deck. (Along with your Cyber Twin/End, Gatling,. Dark Balter, etc.)
Cyber Ogre 2
Earth/Machine
Fusion/7/2600/1900
[Cyber Ogre] + [Cyber Ogre]
This card's Fusion Summon can only be done by above cards. When this card would attack, increase this
card's attack strength by halved of the attack strength of the attacking target monster.
Lets see, Fusion monsters usually needs either insane ATK point stat or broken effect to be good. Cyber Twin/End have insane ATK stat (Twin is "potentially" 5600ATK points) and TER got one of the stupidest broken effect for a fusion that it got banned now. Balter chews Sangan and Frogs for breakfast, Gatling wipes out all of the foe's monster in one turn, etc. etc.
The stat. Being a 2600ATK for a level 7 isn't that great, especially for a Fusion. But being a level 7 means you can Metamorphosis it, and with Duel-Mode Beast, it's quite easy compared to level 8 fusion monsters or some of the impossible level 9-12 ones. (level 7 Meta got Duel-Mode Beast, while Level 8 Meta got DMoC/SPoN) 1900DEF is crap for a level 7, but then again, who cares about DEF right now other then Smashing or Enemy Controller issues.
And this card can only be Fusion summoned by a proper type. So no substitute with other Fusion subs. But it CAN be Metamorphed and Steined. (Or Earth HEX's 2nd effect) And being Earth Machine means no Overload Fusion. (The only Fusion monster in this set of Cyberdark Impact that can be Overloaded is Cyber Dark Dragon)
The effect. This card gains the ATK of by half of the foe's monster during Damage Step. So it just gains attack. Well, the thing is, this card can kill pretty much anything in result of battle, even monsters with higher ATK. (Other then say Five-Headed Dragon or Chimeratech Overdragon with 8000+ATK points.) Meaning this card is just a beatstick like Cyber End/Twin. Now, is this card worth of Stein like End/Twin?
The situations.
Say the foe got one staple powerful monster, Jinzo on the field. Twin can attack that and then attack directly for 2800LP damage. End can attack that for 1600LP damage. And Ogre can attack that for 1400LP damage. Twin wins by far.
If they got a bunch of high ATK monsters, say 2x Monarchs, Twin can kill both and your foe takes 800LP. Cyber Orge 2 can attack 1 of it, and do 1400LP. And Cyber End can do 1600LP. For a field wipe Twin, for LP damage End. Orge's out.
Say your foe got bunch of Goats, Frog, or Reaper, then End can attack it's weak spot for maximum damage. (Okay, Pierce/Trample, sorry for the joke) I would rule out Twin or Orge in this case.
Say your foe got a monster that cannot be killed by Cyber Twin regularly (Say Ancient Gear Golem, Horus LV8) Then Cyber End can do 1000LP damage. Cyber Ogre can do 1100LP damage. In this case, Ogre wins.
So for Ogre to replace Cyber End or Twin for stein, you usually need to face a really powerful monster on the foe's field that's in ATK position. (Higher then the Monarchs) The higher attack or better, until you get into 5200+ATK. (Since Cyber Ogre 2 is 2600ATK, attacking a 5200ATK monster will be a stalemate cause Ogre gains 1/2 of that making both 5200ATK, anything higher will make Ogre lose out) But higher then 5200ATK means your either fighting a Chimeratech, or some monster with Limiter or Megamorph or United We Stand pumped in it's veins. Then you should kick in your Limiter Removal since this monster is also a machine. (But both players having a high ATK Machine monster while both having Limiter ready for fire is really a rare situation)
Oh yeah, if you Limiter Ogre 2, IMO I think you should double it's ATK in damage step first to make it 5200ATK, THEN you boost it's ATK farther by gaining the foe's ATK points with Ogre effect. (Kinda like Kinetic Soldier + Limiter against a Warrior-Type situation) So no boosting it's ATK stat by Ogre effect, THEN boosting all of that with Limiter. (That's cheap)
So in the end, it's hard to replace Cyber Twin/End with Stein. Stein was meant for OTK, and both Twin and End is overall better when attacking a blank field or other situations that demans high LP loss of your foe. While Cyber Ogre 2 is just good when fighting a high ATK monster. It can kill anything, but it's definately not designed for OTK strat like Twin/End. And paying 5000LP that's not a OTK is usually bad if you played enough Stein to know from experience. (i.e. your monster either dies or worse, get stolen)
But it IS a good Metamorphosis choice. Just like how Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill is the better Meta monster then Cyber End. The only good Meta level 7 monsters were King Dragun (But it's usually for Dragon decks, although it CAN protect itself from all target effects.) The Last Warrior from Another Planet for "No monster FOR YOU?!" or St. Joan/Twin-Head Thunder D for beatstick. Now we got a level 7 that's WAY better beatstick then just plain normal vanilla with 2800ATK points. Overall, Metamorphosis Cyber Ogre 2 a level 7 monster if you need a high beatstick monster for OTK.
Oh yeah, you CAN proper fusion summon this thing with oh say, Power Bond. (And the LP loss is even lower then Twin) And a 5200ATK that also gains ATK from it's foe is pretty darn scary. (now it can kill that Chimeratech or overrun F.G.D.) And I guess in a Cyber Ogre deck, it can work. (Cyber Ogre is decent, although it's attack is a crappy 1900 for a tribute, you CAN get it's stat pumped into 3900ATK, that can kill ANYTHING but a Cyber End in meta-level, even the blasted Lily. Too bad you have to discard a Cyber Ogre while you have another Cyber Ogre in your field, i.e. run 3x with alot of tribute fodder/support s/t or it's pointless.) But Power Bonding is hard, just like how Cyber Dragon Fusion deck are very hard to run.
Overall, get it if your deck runs a Metamorphosis that also runs a decent number of level 7 monsters in your deck. (I don't know, there ARE decks that focus on level 7/8 monsters, like decks that run DMoC/SPoN usually also runs Metamorphosis for example.) I'll say for a deck that runs alot of LV7, this monster is the best beatstick Meta choice definately.
I give it
5 out of 10.
Hey, I'm being nice here. It's just "average". It doesn't fit Stein. And non-stein Fusion monsters usually get ignored. Especially since Metamorphosis is weakened by alot cause of lack of TER. If TER was still here then I would have given say 6~7ish cause people will play Meta more.
