chain question

ok, ppl...i have a scenario, here it is.

player a: activates ring of destruction, targeting berserk gorilla.

player b: responds to ROD by activating hallowed life barrier, discarding sinster serpent.

player a: activates, in response, barrel behind the door.

in this case, i think, player b can't activate BBTD, right?. he can only response to the activation of a card by the oponente, or, if the oponent doesn't activate anything, he can chain to his/her trap.....but im not sure...could you guys explain this situation here??

Player A cannot activate Barrel Behind the Door because it must be chained immediately after the effect that would cause damage. Since Player B stuck another card on the chain right after Ring of Destruction, there's nothing Player A can do except eat the damage.

Or, here is another situation which I am pretty sure on, but correct me if I am wrong:

Player A activates Ring of Destruction

Player B chains Trap of Board Eraser

Player A Cannot chain BBtD, because the preceding trap in the chain (ToBE) does not actually do damage to player A.

Player A discards a card from hand, then eats the attack of the monster. Tastes like chicken!

you are correct. Everything about timing for activation with Barrel Behind the Door holds true for Trap of Board Eraser.
