it i have a curse of darkness and my opponent has a Soul Absorption when a monster is removed will he take 1000 damage the gain the 500 or just gain the 500
"Curse of Darkness" only inflicts its damage when a new Spell Card is activated, NOT when the effect of an already face-up Spell Card activates. "Soul Absorption" would not trigger it.
You would get "Soul Absorption"'s effect and that's all.
