Dark Jeroid
Effect Monster (Fiend / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1200 / DEF 1500)

When this monster is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned, select 1 face-up monster on the field and decrease its ATK by 800 points. This effect lasts until the selected card is destroyed or removed from the field.

If Dark Jeroid is summoned and there are no monsters on the field, he reduces his own ATK.

Now, I have two questions:

1. If I summon him and there are other monsters on the field, can I choose to lower Dark Jeroid's ATK instead of the other monster?

2. If I summon him and use his effect and then flip him face-down, does his effect reactivate when he is flipped face-up again (whether by card effect, or manually during my next turn)? In other words, can I target the same monster with Dark Jeroid's effect with the same Dark Jeroid?

1. Certainly. You just have to lower the ATK of one monster. If you wish to you can have it do it to itself, even if there is another monster on the field.

2. Only if it is Flip-Summoned. If you turn it face-down via Book of Moon and it is attacked or flipped by an effect like Swords of Revealing Light, then its effect won't work. If you Flip Summon it, however, its effect will trigger. And you can certainly target the same monster again. However, if you are thinking about targeting your own Dark Jeroid twice, keep in mind that when a monster affected by Dark Jeroid is turned face-down or leaves the field, its ATK is reset.
