If my oppent has a F/d Dust tornado or mst and I active Dark World Lighting can he Dust tornado or Mst my Dark World Lighting. Will Dark World Lighting's effect Dissepear? Since Dust Tornado is trying to destroy Dark world Lighting. So Then I can't Discard a card form my hand?

He can certainly chain Dust Tornado or Mystical Space Typhoon to your activation of Dark World Lightning, but a couple of things will affect the outcome. However, in each case, you still resolve the chain backwards from the last card played.

Dark World Lightning resolves first. If the card you targeted with Dark World Lightning is still face-down (meaning your opponent didn't chain the targeted card), then Dark World Lightning will destroy it and you'll be able to discard. MST/Dust Tornado will resolve next and destroy Dark World Lightning, but not negate it's effect. Destroy does not equal negate.

The important things to remember about chains is that 1) they resolve backwards starting withethe last card played, 2) all cards in the chain remain face-up on the field until the chain fully resolves and 3) if a card is destroyed/removed from the field mid-chain, that does not remove it's effect from the chain. Only negation can remove an effect from a chain, not destruction.

Um, DJ... your theory is correct but... you got things backwards.

Chain Link 1: Dark World Lightning
Chain Link 2: Mystical Space Typhoon/Dust Tornado

MST/Dust resolves first. Now, if MST/Dust happens to be the card that DWL was targeting, then when that tries to resolve, it can't since the card is face up and you don't discard anything.

However, if DWL was targeting another card and that card is still face down, then that card is destroyed and you discard for DWL.

Argghhhh!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I was hungry and hadn't eaten in days. There were killer bees. Aliens. Rottweilers. Stone Phillips. It wasn't my fault!. <sigh> :(

But I was right about the whole negate doesn't equal destroy thingy. ;)
