If you have a face down Stealth Bird and your opponent has a face up Vamp Lord with a face down Deck Devistation Virus (DDV). You flipp Stealth Bird and your opponent chains DDV to it and offers of Vamp Lord.

Do you still get the flipp affect of Stealth Bird?

Yes. Stealth Bird was Flip Summoned successfully and does not need to be on the field for the resolution of his effect.

And if I might add one more thing. Stealth Bird is not a Flip Effect. Flip effects have the text "FLIP:" precceeding thier effect and only require to be flipped in some way to achieve thier effect. (Like by an attack or through the effect of Swords of Revealing Light.) Stealth Bird MUST be Flipped Summoned in order to gain his efect.

Thank you that is what I thought and I was told that since he was not on the field that he did not get his effect. I tryed to explain to them it is just like when there is a Skill Drain on the field and you use Ring on your figure to get its effect.

Explain it this way. Since you can't chain a regular trap to a summon so the monster was obviously flip summoned successfully. Since that is all that was needed to activate its effect it doesn't matter than it leaves the field.

In this instance his opponent is chaining to the effect of Stealth Bird and not the summon itself. So more accuratly it can be said that the effect of Stealth Bird is simply waiting for it's turn on the chain. The effect is activated on the field and reamins on the field for resolution.

Yeah, your chaining to the effect obviously, but unless a card negates the effect it has to go though if no other effects prevent it. It is not a continous effect that stops when it leaves the field and it says nothing about needing to stay on the field to get its effect. I guess I would be assuming these people he is having problems with know more than I should assume, heh.

If Stealth Bird was successfully Flip Summoned, and it was destroyed in response, the effect of Stealth Bird will still inflict 1000 points of damage.
