Destruction Jammer

Just looking for clarification.

Can Destruction Jammer destroy a continuous Spell or Trap card?
Such as, Needle Wall or Blaze Accelerator?

Destruction Jammer will work against those cards. It negates a card's effect, not the activation of the card itself.
Two things...

1. Reading the card text explains what the card does....
Destruction Jammer said:
Discard 1 card. Negate the activation of a Spell Card, Trap Card, or Effect Monster's effect that destroys a monster(s) on the field, and destroy that card.
It negates the activation of cards, not only the effect.

2. Perhaps checking the official rulings for "Destruction Jammer" would clarify the correct answer....
UDE FAQ said:
"Desruction Jammer" cannot be chained to effects that may or may not destroy a monster, like "Acid Trap Hole", "Blowback Dragon", "Magical Dimension", "Reign-Beaux, Overlord of Dark World", "Snipe Hunter", etc.

"Destruction Jammer" cannot be chained to the activation of the Ignition-like effect of a Continuous Spell or Trap Card (like "Skull Lair", etc.).

"Destruction Jammer" cannot be chained when "Premature Burial" or "Call of the Haunted" is activated because they do not destroy a monster card at that time, nor can it be chained when the Special Summoned monster is destroyed.

"Destruction Jammer" can be chained when "Light and Darkness Dragon's" effect to Special Summon a monster is activated, but not if the owner of "Light and Darkness Dragon" has no monsters on their side of the field.

Enjoy..

Sounds like a stupid ruling to me, that "can't activate in response to a Continuous Card with an Ignition effect" one. It's entirely not what the card says.

Shame on me for assuming the card says what it does, of course.

Maruno I dont see where the confusion is coming from. The card says it negates the activation. Activation being the activation of the card and not the effect. Its not the first card to work this way. How many times have people asked the same question in relation to magic jammer.

Well, replacing "Spell Card, Trap Card, or Effect Monster" with "card" for simplicity leaves:

Discard 1 card. Negate the activation of a card's effect that destroys a monster(s) on the field, and destroy that card.
Looks like it's negating a card effect to me, rather than the card's activation. Certainly activating all Normal Spell/Trap Cards is identical to activating their effects, and that's fine, but I don't see why it shouldn't be able to negate Continuous Spell/Trap Card Ignition-like effects too - they're activating the effects, they go on Chains, and Destruction Jammer's text implies it'll work.

I'm pretty sure it means:
Negate the activation of a:

a) Spell Card
b) Trap Card
c) Effect Monster's effect

...that destroys a monster(s) on the field, and destroy that card.
Ambiguous commas for the win!

So there's no Counter Trap Cards that merely negate effects, instead of negating activation and effect? If so, then that's understandable.
