Divine Wrath vs Magical Marionette/Royal Magical Library

If I understand Divine Wrath correctly it can not be used against continuous effects or cost. I would assume that Magical Marionette/Royal Magical Library effect of adding counters is a continuous effect and that removing counters for there effect is a cost. Right so far? So Divine Wrath could not be used when counters are added or removed......but...and this is where I get foggy....once the cost is paid (removing the correct number of counters) and their effect (a trigger effect, I think) kicks in (monster destruction/card draw) Divine Wrath can be activated and these monsters are destroyed. Am I correct? If so, would chaining Book of the Moon turning the monster face down save it? If not, could you chain Ring of Destruction (normal trap) targeting said monster, destroying it inflicting damage to both players?

Acutally, both effects are trigger effects so you would be able to use "Divine Wrath" on them. Also, you would not be able to chain "Ring of Destruction" or "Book of Moon" since "Divine Wrath" is a Counter Trap and a faster spell speed.

DW can not be used agains continuous effects. It can be used on Ignition Effects and Triggered Effects.

Yes, this is a continuous effect, so DW cannot be used on it because the adding of counter happens during the resolution of a chain block.

Yes, but it is actually an Ignition Effect. Divine Wrath may be used against Ingnition Effects.

You can't chain Book of Moon on Divine Wrath because DW is spell speed 3.

Ignition or Trigger effect...I'm glad to see that even you experienced ones dissagree on what Ignition/Trigger effects are.

Since spell speed 2 cards can not be chained aganist it, are there any spell speed 3 cards that can negate DW?

The disagreement came from whether or not the effect of getting a token is a continuous or a trigger effect. The act of removing them for the effect is an ignition effect (that we both agree on).

As for what can be chained to negate Divine Wrath... take your pick:

Solemn Judgment
Seven Tools of the Bandit
Trap Jammer (if it were activated during the Battle Phase only).

I'm basing my answer on Tower of Babel's effect:
Each time you or your opponent activates a Spell Card, put 1 Spell Counter on this card. When the 4th Spell Counter is put on this card, destroy this card and inflict 3000 points of damage to the player that activated the Spell Card at that time.

1. You place Spell Counters on "Tower of Babel" after the Spell Card resolves.

And compared it to Magical Marionette's effect:
Each time you or your opponent activates 1 Spell Card, put 1 Spell Counter on this card. Increase the ATK of this monster by 200 points for each Spell Counter on this card. Also, you can remove 2 Spell Counters from this card to destroy 1 monster on the field.

The counter placement is a Continuous Trigger and not chainable.

"Each time [this_event_occurs], [do_this]" is the Continuous Trigger template.

The only effect chainable in this scenario is the Ignition Effect:

"Also, you can remove 2 Spell Counters from this card to destroy 1 monster on the field."
