Double Snare

Hello everyone,

I had an interesting question pop up just recently. Double Snare destroys cards that negate traps such as Jinzo, Royal Decree, etc., but what about Pitch-Black Warwolf/Mirage Dragon?

Any thoughts would be appreciated as the FAQ doesn't say anything these two cards. Thanks!

Pitch-Black Warwolf and Mirage Dragon don't negate effects of Trap Cards. They only prevent them from being activated in certain Phases of Game Play, so you can't use Double Snare against them, but you can against Tyrant Dragon!!

Indeed, the first ruling underneath Double Snare lists which cards you can use it against. I don't know if it's fully up to date, though, since it is a ruling.

You can destroy "Jinzo", "Royal Decree", "Tyrant Dragon", "Sorcerer of Dark Magic", "Fiend Skull Dragon", and "The Dragon's Bead" with this card's effect.

The key here is that cards like Pitch-Black Warwolf and Mirage Dragon do not negate anything. They both prevent Trap Card activation. Negation is not the same as prevention. The same would apply to cards unaffected by traps. Unaffected would not be the same as negation, either.

See, that's what was throwing me off was if they hadn't updated the list or if it was left off for a reason. But that's a good point. It's always in the wording... Prevent, Negate, Destroy...Always in the wording...It's enough to drive some mad at times...
