DP03-EN026 Burial From a Different Dimension

Burial From a Different Dimension
Quick-Play Spell
Select up to 3 Monster Cards that are removed from play, and return them to their owners' Graveyards.

Let's take a look at the "other" Ultra Rare from the Jaden 2 Duelist Pack. At first glance, this seems to be a very situational card, and similar to Miracle Dig. What makes this better though are a couple of things:

1. It's Quick-play
2. It can return your opponent's monster(s) to the Graveyard

At first glance, removal decks can utitilize this. For instance, not enough DARKS or LIGHTS in the Graveyard for Strike Ninja/Freed the Brave Wanderer? This will return enough for you to use again. Need to pump up Bazoo the Soul-Eater one more time? Here ya go. In Traditional, the same can be said for Chaos Sorcerer, or either of the Envoys.

But what else can it do? If your Exodia pieces get removed, you can return them so they can be retrieved by Backup Soldier, or Dark Factory of Mass Production. Fusion decks that remove (Miracle Fusion, Dragon's Mirror) can return Fusion material for another fusion. Dark Magician of Chaos gone for the duel? Return him to the Graveyard, and bring him back and get a Spell back in the process.

You can use it defensively too. Say your opponent has you in a Macro Cosmos + D.D. Survivor bind. Return him to the Graveyard and he won't return to the field. The same can be said about D.D. Scout Plane. If a Gren Maju Da Eiza a Tyranno Infinity is just a tad too big to handle, return 3 of your opponen't monsters and make it easier to deal with. Opponent going for the Jinzo + Spell Canceller lock after getting Chimeratech to the field? Shut him down with this. It's also nice anti-Return From the Different Dimension OTK.

Ratings:
Traditional: 3/5
Advanced: 3/5
Limited: 0/5

Summary: Yes, the card has some good uses, but they are all situational. It can be a good way to replenish some resources if you plan on doing some removing, or it could come out of the side deck against an opponent who likes to remove. Ordinarily, it wouldn't be as good in Traditional, but with at least 3 more monsters there that remove, it serves a purpose. The fact that it's a Quick-Play earns it some bonus points too, since it can bait out removal, and can be played against your opponent. Not a game-breaking card, but it's not without it's usefulness either.

Touché. My mistake. For some reason I was thinking it was only as powerful as what was removed from play, and not what was used to summon it.
