DP05-EN021: Over Destiny

Another card of Aster Phoenix pack. Man, I guess I'm slightly biased but I am a fan of D-Heros. (I like Machines more though) Before, I just ran Dashers, but with this pack being released, I'll run more then just 3x Dasher build with all these effects.

Wow, with the power cards of Destiny Hero Malicious and Destiny Draw are gone, now for some weaker, but still good, effects.

Over Destiny
Spell - Normal

text from DMCOMET (i.e. not the offical English text)

Choose a monster with [D-Hero] in its name from your Graveyard. Special Summon a monster from your deck with [D-Hero] in its name that is halved of level of that monster. Destroy the monster special summon this way at End Phase of that turn.

---------------

Another support for D-Hero. And it ONLY fits on D-Hero. Basically, you select a monster with D-Hero from your graveyard, (This is not a cost, just a reference for the effect) and you summon a monster that's 1/2 of the level. And that monster dies at the end phase.

Now. so lets see what CAN you special summon with this effect.

To special summon a level 4 monster from your deck with this effect, you need a level 8 Destiny Hero. And the only ones are either Dreadmaster or Dogma. IMO, Dreadmaster isn't a good D-Hero. So that leaves Dogma. (Dogma is also IMO, a bad D-Hero, that is until with this new Aster Pack, he's actually playable) But running multiple Dogma and having them on the graveyard just for this effect is not that great. (Dogma is a nomi in the graveyard) If you got Dogma that died as in the grave, great, but that's not the likely case most of the time.

Now, there is no level 2 or 1 D-Hero so that just leaves level 3 D-Heros. And for that, you need level 6 D-Heros in your graveyard. And we got Dasher and Malicious for the reference. And these guys, are good and very well be likely be in your graveyard thanks to cards like Destiny Draw. (http://www.cogonline.net/showthread.php?p=159610) So, what are level 3 D-Heros?

We got

Fear Monger
Blade Master
Captain Tendacious
Doom Lord

Now, among these. Blade Master is definately out. Not only a bad card, but this card was meant to be in your hand for a discard effect. Another words, never meant to be on the field. So out.

Fear Monger and Captain Tendacious isn't too bad. They all have special summon effects. But for Tendacious, you have to protect that and that requires too much combo so it's not worth it. Fear Monger is decent as long as you got other D-Hero then Fear Monger. But the cards worth special summoning isn't too great. It's either Dasher, Diamond Dude, or Doom Lord. Too bad Fear Monger is only limited to D-Heros.

So that usually just leaves with Doom Lord as the best pull for Over Destiny most of the time. Sure, you can't attack with the card effect, and it's only gone for 2 turns. But hey, get rid of any threat for 2 turns, face-up or face-down is great. You buy time for 2 turns that when it does come back, hopefully you got an answer to beat it.

Now, whatever you summoned with Over Destiny will be destroyed at the end Phase. So it's a good idea to tribute if off for a tribute summon of whatever you pulled. So in a D-Hero deck, (Which is the only deck theme this card belongs in) it's just either Dasher or Dogma. (Or Dreadmaster if you really want to run him)

Not that bad, but really, this card only fits in a D-Hero deck, and a deck that needs alot of tributes. (i.e. Destiny Hero Dogma deck) Any other deck, I would totally ignore this card.

In the end, I give this card a

5.5 out of 10

Not bad. But too bad the special summoned monster is gone at the end phase, and even then, the monster pool that can be special summoned with this card isn't that great. Run it in a Dogma deck or ignore it. But usually cards like Reasoning/Monster Gate/Last Will/etc. can do a better job most of the time. This thing requires a bit too much combo set-up for a limited choice selection.
