Dragon's Mirror and Miracle Fusion

I'm waiting for other answers, but I see nobody else is trying to give an explanation...

Are we REALLY REALLY REALLY sure that fusion substitute monsters can be used when one of these cards is acrtvated?

If they couldn't, the card would specifically say "Those Fusion Material Monsters must be the correct ones".

So yes, we're really really sure.

But Dragon's Mirror specifically states to remove the monsters listed on the cards text. I dont really see how that can work with monsters you chose to use as subs for the actual summon, since they would not be part of the card's requirement for summoning text.

Further, I would say that once a Fusion Sub goes to the Graveyard, how can you use its effect? It's not like its Peten or Dark Necrofear, and it has an effect that activates while in the Graveyard.

Compare with the text on Polymerization. Polymerization says to discard the cards listed, but we all know you can discard Fusion Substitutes instead. There's no significant difference that suggests Fusion Substitutes can't be used with Dragon's Mirror or Miracle Fusion.

Elemental Mistress Doriado has her effect which is still applied in the Graveyard. It's not as though Fusion Substitutes are the only ones whose effects can be used in the Graveyard like that. The effects aren't activated, but are merely "there" and can be used whenever you want. Find another thread here explaining more about Doriado's effect, because I couldn't spout off all the technicalities offhand here.

Please just trust us on this. You can use Fusion Substitutes with Dragon's Mirror and Miracle Fusion. End of conversation.

That would appear to be exactly correct.

It looks like Konami is trying to make Fusions more playable and the Dragon's Mirror, Miracle Fusion & Power Bond cards seem to be aiming right down that alley. Although certainly abusable I can't say this is at all overpowered. Even with subs you are still dependent on getting the monsters into the graveyard or onto the field, we don't have Painful Choice anymore to make this as easy and most of the fusion parts aren't that commonly played (or useful enough to be preferred cards). Combine that with the type restrictions and you'll only see these in specialized theme decks.

Anything that makes seldomly used cards more playable is definitely the right direction in my opinion. I'd much rather see cards like this that compliment and bolster areas where deck types have suffered (fusions and hand management), instead of more game breaking behemoths like the Envoys rolling out to create endless carbon copy cookie cutter boredom.

Yes it does. Fusion Subs will work in the hand, field, and Graveyard. They all say something along the lines of this in their text: "You can substitute this card as a Fusion Material Monster." which means as long as the card is in play you can use it for the effects of Dragon's Mirror and Miracle Fusion.

Yes, it should. Although when fusion substitutes came out there was no need for that question. They have their abilities in the hand and on the field, so why not in the graveyard? And I think I heard something about Painful Choice coming back Oct. 1. That would make for some interesting fusion decks, huh?

Probably wrong about the Painful Choice thing.
