Ectoplasmer SOD-EN043

Ectoplasmer [spell card continuos] SOD-EN043

Only once during each player's End Phase, each player Tibutes 1 face-up monster on his/her side of the field and inflicts damage to the opponent's Life Points equal to half of the original ATK of the Tributed Monster.

Well i like this litte annoying card, great for getn rid of opponents monsters + with it in combo with malice the doll of demise, it can be really annoying

a very straight foward card

this card is simple you use it with malice dolls.

its a great way to get rid of your opponets monsters with change of heart and enemy controller instead of giving the monster back it does them damge. it would have been more playable if Mind control allowed tributing. i have never seen this card used. not even in a fun deck. that has to say somthing.

im sure some 1 would be able to enlighten us to some of its other maybe not so obvios uses.

o please the one enlighten us.

10/10 (teach them not to read my review)

6/10 (real review + needs to be a deck with some consideration for this ard not based around but maybe enemy controlers atleast if not malice dolls or both) with malices it wouldnt be bad not great either though

ectoplasmer... hmm... its... meh...

it works well with malice doll, duh, but you still arent doing much damage with that. once, my opponent activated it when i had mars on the field, and obviously that worked well with me.

point: this card works well with monsters that arent effected by spell cards. (mars, silent lv5- if your opponent uses ecto., other cards...?) (horus lv6?)

when arkana used this in the show, he made it look uber. however... it really isnt that uber.

artwork: pretty cool, reminds me of card of safe return.

Malice the doll of demise is also good with mass driver, As for ectoplasmer Im finding it better every time i play it.

Tributing a monster for Mass Driver is a cost - not destroying a monster through it's effect, so this does not work.

Caught me out too.

oooooooooops, forgot about timing....., but i thought that if u pulled 3 of them with painful, they all go off.....

Ectoplasmer is an underatted card. Use light of intervention to force your opponent's monsters face up. Malice doll of demise is just an obvious given but what about other cards that can swarm the field. What about monsters with High attack or scapegoats to force your opponent to tribute his/her monsters while you keep your own monsters. What about using trap of board erasers against your opponent's launches.

so lets see... so far I have ranted long enought to have:

x1 pot of greed
x3 ectoplasmer
x3 light of intervention
x3 Trap of Board Eraser
x1 snatch steal
x1 change of heart
x1-3 scapegoat
x1 painful choice
x1 DMOC
x1-3 fusilier dragon the duel mode beast
x1 magic reflector
x1 call of the haunted
x1 premature burial
x1-2 the shallow grave
x1 torrential tribute
x1 MST
x1 enemy controller
x1 magic cylinder
x1 broken the magical warrior (thats right, I went there)

I have to go now, but you et the general idea. Ectoplasmer and Tragety have to be the 2 most underated cards from the set.

Trap of Board Eraser is a counter trap. The rules of chaining counter traps apply: therefore you can not chain it to a continuous spell or trap cards effect activating.

Also: you do not know whether Ectoplasmer is to inflict damage or not until it starts resolving.

yeah, thats what i thought too.

archfiend of gilfer has that nasty little ruling... and that really stinks, but oh well. its not like theres anything we can do about it... (curse you Shuiesha... we want BEUD... >.<)

the fact remains, however, ectoplasmer definatly needs a strategy based about it to function properly.

tragedy: ive been saying how underrated it is for... months. (japanese pic is better though... MUCH) curse of anubis, windstorm of etaqua, book of moon, enemy controller, etc. use your eyes people lol... ^_^

in the meantime, lets bring up the point that Ectoplasmer can be negated by mask of restrict as well.... (and a lot of new cards coming out can as well)

One of the most frustrating decks I've played in a long time is an Ectoplasmer deck w/ Manticores and Malice Dolls.
amazing that no one thought of that till now... lol, its kind of embarassing... lol (it was so obvious too)

nice work, john! ^_^ (did you beat the deck?)

i didnt think of pikeru either... hmph, now i feel very stupid... lol... (i sure do say "lol" and "awesome" a lot... i need to stop that)

You're not the only one who didn't think of it. The first time I saw the combo I was Homer Simpson..."Doooohhhh!!" <slapping my forehead>

Care to go for two Ectoplaser w/ 2 Manticore in the end phase?

How about adding in The Creator w/ Creator Incarnate, Warrior Returning Alive(s) and Monster Reincarnation?

To answer your question. I lost the first duel, won the seond, and lost the last one losing the first match. Once I realized completely what I was up agaist I was able to win the second match. (It wasn't in a tournament, just dueling with a friend) I was lucky to escape the second match with a win though.

yeah, encountering that for the first time can be a bit overwhelming.... (the ecto + manticores) and shocking... and overwhelming... and surprising... etc.

nice combo with the Creator! (my avatar...) (wish i actually HAD one... T_T)

as we have seen, ecto can be quite a nasty number, when used naughtily..... but dont be moron like Pandora (Arkana) (Pandora is his Jap. name, right? o_O) and just slap it into a deck where you have no strategy...
