Element Doom FET-EN011

Element Doom
Effect Monster (Fiend / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1500 / DEF 1200)

This monster gets the following effect(s) while there is a monster(s) with the following Attribute(s) on the field:
"¢ EARTH: Negate the effect of an Effect Monster that is destroyed by this monster as a result of battle.
"¢ WIND: If this card destroyed your opponent's monster as a result of battle, it can attack once again in a row.

Alright, more Fiends. I believe that this is a fairly decent Element monster to be a fiend, because you have good fiends that are Wind (Slate Warrior). There aren't as many good earth fiends (Headless Knight and Earthbound Spirit come to mind immediately) Anyway, this card has potential, especially with Doriado coming out, um about now. XD Anyway....

Overall: 3.75/5

We have yet to see a powerful Earth Fiend type monster, but in a possible beat down we might have a very effective card. The element cards are a very nice touch to some decks, but are a little situtional in the current metagame. The new card mentioned in the previous message might be able to help, guess we will see.

When Cybernetic Revolution comes out we will be getting a new fiend that is Earth type. Its called something like Goblin Strike Troops... not really sure. I know it sounds a lot like Goblin Attack Force and for good reasons. One it looks a lot like them and two the effect is the same. Stats of the new monster is 2200/1500. Why fiends need two monsters with the same attack and effect we may never know.

Anyway, I haven't really liked the element monsters too well. You can always run Scapegoats in order to activate the Earth part of them, but the other types are a bit harder to work with. Having two monsters on the field at the same time isn't the easiest with so much monster destruction out there. Of course Slate Warrior works with the wind side and you could always use DNA Transplant (not really worth it though) to get the effect you want or Scroll of Bewitchment. I would like to try a element deck, but they are really too hard to work around to be that good. I don't see much beyond a fun deck with them ever.

Dryad opens new doors for element decks. As one of the best element monsters (closely followed by Element-zaurus and then Element Dragon, because 1500 ATK usually doesn't cut it these days) I think it can cause some major havoc on an ill-prepared opponent. Of course, then comes the chore of keeping poor Dryad alive and the such, but that is the burden you take if you play an element deck. I think Elements COULD be a contender if they can find a way to permanently keep Drayad around (Spirit Barrier+Astral Shield comes to mind...but rather fragile, no?), and if they aren't then they will at least be darn fun.

As a monster in his own right, though, Doom is hardly passable. A 1500 DARK/Fiend is nothing too impressive, and the Double Attack is hardly intimidating with that half-BLS sixed mouth he's packing. The effect negation is stellar, but why not just use Ha Des or Terrorking for that if you are going the fiend route? Sure, you get the Double Attack option if you need it, but to have both effects you would (generally) have 3+ monsters on the field, and last time I checked if you have THAT much advantage, you are usually in pretty good shape as it is (sans an unexpected Soldier obviously). So...overall, I think that he is one of the best of a mediocore group of monsters. Effect negation is sweet, but he doesn't have much else going for him.

out of the Element Fiends, I think I prefer the Element Soldier, to be honest. I wasnt that excited when it first came out, but the Water effect helps it more than I would have believed.

The one thing Doom and Soldier have over Terrorking and Dark Ruler?...speed. It is very easy to get a Dark 1500 attack monster on the field. There are many ways. What this means is that I can run Doom and Soldier and replace Dark Ruler/Terrorking with support monsters that feed the effect (Earth/Wind/Water) and attack boosters like Rush Recklessly. Field swarm and quick attack make up, often, for the lack of pure attack power. The deck has to simply be arranged to do other things besides the normal Beatdown conditions that Fiends thrive under.
