Equip card negation.

Now that it's finally been cleared up that not all equip cards are equip spell cards, I feel it leads to certain questions being asked:

Does "spell canceller" negate blast with chain and dark necrofear?

And if not, would skill drain negate dark necrofear?

"Blast with Chain", I would say no.

"Dark Necrofear" most definately yes (she'll still target/equip herself to a monster and come back to the field but you wouldn't gain control of the monster). There is an official ruling that "Imperial Order" would negate the effect so "Spell Canceller would to.

"Skill Drain" would have no effect on "Dark Necrofear" since she's considered an Equip Card when she returns to the field.

Are you sure on that first Blast with Chain one Densetu?

I agree when Blast with Chain is activated it is a trap card, so Spell Canceller can't stop its activation. However after it resolves it is now an equip spell card with the effect ("When this card is destroyed by the effect of another card while it is an Equip Card, select 1 card on the field and destroy it."

Since BwC doesn't have to be destroyed and sent to the graveyard to get its effect, wouldn't its effect resolve while it was still on the field? If so, wouldn't Spell Canceller be able to negate it?

Spell Canceller doesn't negate Trap Cards. Blast with Chain is an equip TRAP card. iT is never a spell card, and will never be affected by Spell Canceller.

This is the issue at hand, cards can be equip cards without being an equip spell card. Does this make Dark Necrofear and monsters equipped to Relinquished "equip monster cards" as it were?

No. Monster cards become Equip Spell Cards.

Trap cards remain Trap cards.

I never stopped to think about that one before. Coolness. That makes sense now. Even Gilfer says it becomes an Equip Spell card. ThankS!

And remember you cannot "negate" a monster equipped to Relinquished/Thousand-Eyes Restrict with something like "Silent Swordsman LV7", "Spell Canceller", "Imperial Order", etc. because it is the effect of RQ/TER that determines its ATK/DEF based on the monster it has, not that monster itself. This differes from "Dark Necrofear" since it is HER effect that allows her to function as a "Snatch Steal" Equip so she can be negated.
