Fairy Meteor Crush & Big Bang Shot

Hi there, I just need a quick clarification on equipping these to your opponent's monsters. I understand if the opposing monster is equipped, and attacks my own monsters, my opponent will take the battle damage. But: What if I don't have any monsters on the field, or have one but it's in attack position [with a lower attack]? Do I take the battle damage [like normal], or does my opponent? Do I need a defensive position monster to avoid battle damage [and cause my opponent to take it instead?]

Thanks in advance.

Big Bang Shot and Fairy Meteor crush always inflict their battle damage to the opponent. Their effects only inflict battle damage when attacking a Defense position monster with lower defense than their equipped monsters attack.

Yes, you still take the damage for both cases.

Yes, a defense position monster would cause the opponent to take damage instead of you.
