i saw this one in the swords of revealing light question...

fake trap cannot be chained to heavy storm in order to save the other set trap cards? is this true?

just want to clear this... thanks!!! :D

I don't know who said that it couldn't be chained, but it's always been my understanding that you could in fact chain Fake Trap to Heavy Storm or Harpies Feather Duster to save your set trap cards on the field.

Fake Trap's text reads...

"When your opponent uses a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster Card to destroy your Trap Card(s), this card can be destroyed as a substitute for your Trap Card(s)."

As you can see, the card has the (s) which indicates that it can protect either one trap, or multiple traps, the only way multiple traps would be destroyed at the same time would be in the case of Heavy Storm, Harpies Feather Duster, Mobius The Frost Monarch, Gryphon Wing (when chained to HFD's activation), Dark Magic Attack (with DM), etc.

When Fake Trap came out however, it's text still said the same and the only card that destroyed multiple traps at the time was Heavy Storm! I'm gonna say that it can be activated to protect traps of yours in response to Heavy Storm unless I read otherwise, but I haven't seen anything otherwise stated (UDE doesn't have it on it's website yet and the ARRJ just simply reads that it can be chained to any spell speed 1 or 2 card that destroys your trap(s), which in itself supports multiple traps.

So yes, you can chain it to Heavy Storm, ;).

That was a long drawn out explanation....

No, it's not true.
But you do have to show your Traps, to verify that they are Traps.

There is one instance when Fake Trap will not cover a Heavy Storm.

If you activate Heavy Storm, Fake Trap will not be able to protect your traps since it will only work against an opponent's effect.

This is true, but one should read Fake Trap before asking about whether or not it protects their traps or not since it clearly states on Fake Trap "When your opponent uses"

Meaning that you can't use it "When you use".

Thought that was kinda self explanatory, guess not...
