field spell card

probably an obvious question, but just to make sure, if u had a field spell card out, can your own treeborn come back? im guessing no, because of the card out on the field

but will it affect the opponent? im guessing no, though the field spell affects the opponent, its not "on" their side of field.....because they ahve their own field spell region?

I agree with your guesses; even though a field spell card effects both players, it is definitely played on 1 side of the field; I don't know if that was the intent when the Treeborn Frog was created but it seems to me that it was an oversight and I would like to see an errata of "except for field spell cards". As more cards are created and the rules become more and more intertwined we start to miss what I think the intent of the monster's effect was to be and how it actually works when the rulings are strictly applied.

Treeborn Frog
Effect Monster (Aqua / WATER / 1 Star / ATK 100 / DEF 100)

If this card is in your Graveyard during your Standby Phase and there are no Spell or Trap Cards on your side of the field, you can Special Summon this card to your side of the field. This effect cannot be activated if there is a face-up "Treeborn Frog" on your side of the field.

I don't know. The effect seems pretty clear and straightforward to me. If I play a Field Spell, that's still a Spell or Trap card on my side of the field.

Why does there need to be an eratta? Here is the message to players

*Treeborn frog DOES NOT work well in decks that play continuous Magic or Field Magic cards.*

I had to explain this to a guy at local tourney last week. He played 2 spell absorbtion in a deck with treeborn. And played them both first turn. I told him when I summoned my mobius WHY I wasn't destroying his spell absorbtion, and told him that spell absorbtion should not be in a deck that utilizes treeborn.
