My Forked Path: Single-Cell Mechanics
Hello duelists, glad to be back. The purpose of my next articles are to show you some cards that have virtually never been played, and how they can be used in today's new meta to deal hard damage.
With the release of Magic Ruler so long ago, many duelists have forgotten about our little single celled friend, Ameba. Ameba was a card that was tossed into the wind, even though Change of Heart and Snatch Steal were being ran in every deck, although your opponent would have to take control of Ameba they would more than likely sacrifice it, giving them an advantage, but only at a cost. Even when Creature Swap came into the mix this little guy had no play at all.
Well with the help from the Spy of Shien, this card has the potential to become devastating in today's meta. Shien's Spy is indeed the heart of this deck, along with Creature Swap. These cards are considered just plain "cruel" when used together, whether it be from swapping your Magician of Faith for your opponents Jinzo via Creature Swap, or giving your opponent your Poison Draw Frog then attacking it, so you may draw a card via Shien's Spy, isn't going to make your opponent a happy camper. Ok let me tell you about Shien's Spy"¦
Shien's Spy is a magic card shown unto duelists when the release of Cybernetic Revolution came to us. Shien's Spy lets you select 1 face-up monster on your side of the field to activate it. Until the End Phase of the turn it was activated, you shift control of the selected monster your opponent. Now I know you are thinking, "Why in the world would I want to give my opponent one of my monsters for nothing in return?" Well lets talk about Ameba again, Ameba's power states, "When the control of this face-up card on the field shifts to your opponent, inflict 2000 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. This effect can only be used once as long as this card remains face-up on the field." Ok I think you see my point with these two cards, you summon your Ameba and play Shien's Spy, Ameba is then given to your opponent and 2000 points of damage is dealt to them, and at the end of your turn Ameba is returned to your side of the field in face-up attack position. You can also use this combination with Creature Swap instead of Shien's Spy. Well there's one of the deadliest combo's in this deck.
Another combo you can use in this deck is a little more difficult to do, and takes more cards to do so. Giant Kozaky, this is yet another card shown to us with the release of CRV. Giant Kozaky unfortunately can't be summoned to the field without a face-up Kozaky on the his controllers side of the field or it is destroyed, and when destroyed it deals 2500 life points of damage to the controllers life points, and if you have looked at this deck, we don't have a Kozaky in it, so how are we going to get this card out? Well luckily for us we have two Skill Drain's in the deck. Skill Drain's ability pretty much is identical to it's name, with the cost of 1000 life points all monsters effects are eliminated as long as Skill Drain stays face-up on your side of the field. Ok, so let me describe to you more in detail this combo. You have to have four cards to do this, Skill Drain, Giant Kozaky, Shien's Spy or Creature Swap, and Emergency Provisions. You will have to have had Skill Drain set for one turn so make sure it has been. Then you will next activate it and pay 1000 life points for Skill Drain's cost. You next will summon Giant Kozaky, a 2500 4 star beat stick, and because of SD's effect GK has no effect. So next comes Shien's Spy, activate it and give your opponent your Giant Kozaky. Finally you can play Emergency Provisions, which will send Skill Drain to the card graveyard giving you back 1000 life points due to Emergency Provisions effect, and since your Skill Drain is gone, all effect monsters on the field get there effects back, meaning your Giant Kozaky is destroyed and sent from your opponents side of the field to your Graveyard dealing 2500 points of damage to you opponent.
Well I hope you enjoyed reading this article as much as I loved writing it"¦
Until next time duelists have fun"¦.
