Now I gotten done with the 3x more powerful cards in FOTB, let's rate the non-obvious good ones. I'll start with this dude, a card for Volcanic decks.

FOTB-EN009: Volcanic Shell
Fire/Pyro - Effect/1/100/0
Once per turn, while this card is in the Graveyard, you can pay 500 Life Points to add 1 "Volcanic Shell" from your Deck to your hand.

Sound simple. Now, the stat of this thing is literally crap as it's only 100ATK and 0 DEF. The only thing it CAN kill is just sheep tokens and maybe few of those gigantic beaters who switches to 0DEF after it attacks. This card was purely meant for effect. The effect is just hand advantage, by getting the card you lost by paying 500LP.
The obvious reason this is created and used for is the new Blaze Accelerator card. With that card, by sending 1 Pyro monster with 500ATK or less, you destroy a monster.
But is that the ONLY use? No. If that was the case, I won't even bother rating it.
Remember, this is "card advantage" cause. So think of it as an alternative to Thunder Dragon. What to use with the extra card, well, for one thing. Anything that have discard for cost effect. You discard your Volcanic Shell for say Lightning Vortex, but still after that, you pay 500LP to get that Volcanic Shell from deck. See, now the cost changed to pay 500LP, not discard a card.
What else, anything that can make an extra card into something of more value. Say Card Destruction, after paying 1000LP in 2 turns overall (you can't pay twice in a row with this card) you can discard both for Card Destruction to get "real cards". There's also Card Trader. With this, you can change that Volcanic Shell into something else with Card Trader during stand-by phase, and then during your main phase, pay 500LP to get that Volcanic Shell you sent away from deck right back to your hand. This is literally activating Pot of Greed by paying 500LP each turn. (not immediately, since you need to get Volcanic Shell during your main phase, then play your Card Trader, and then wait for your next stand-by phase to kick things off) There's also some silly ways to use this like Helping Robo for Combat.
And what if you run out of Volcanic Shell. There's always Pot of Avarice to fuel it back up. But if you want a faster answer, there's also The Transmigration Prophecy.
Really, no matter how "bad" the actual card is, a card effect that leads to 1+ hand advantage is always good. (ANd thus the 500LP payment, if not for that... this card would be on the broken level) Remember, Sinister Serpent is just 300ATK as well. (But that think have no cost and so set-up requirement to boot...)

Fun card. And a deck that needs card advantage should run this card. But a repeated 500LP payment can build up fast if you use it too much.
