Giant Trunade vs Magic Drain

Scenario: I activate Giant Trunade, and my opponent has several traps like Waboku and Secret Barrel, plus a Magic Drain.

If he activates Magic Drain first, and I pay the cost of discarding one spell card, the chain would resolve and Waboku and Secret Barrel would return back to his hand? I know he could not activate his other traps because they are a much slower speed then Magic Drain.
But in regards to another speed 3 trap like Seven Tools Of The Bandit, could he activate that [on his own Magic Drain] AFTER I pay the one spell card to negate Magic Drain, therefore causing Magic Drain's negating ability to work, or is the chain finished with Magic Drain?

Could he also chain Secret Barrel THEN Magic Drain, or is that improper? That is, he would 'burn' me, then try to negate Giant Trunade to keep Waboku face down on the field.

Thanks in advance.

By the time the player would have to discard another spell card for "Magic Drain", you have already started resolving the chain, so you would not be able to chain anything else.

Now if you chained "Secret Barrel" to "Giant Trunade", you would have missed the window needed to activate "Magic Drain" since Counter Traps must be activated in response to the effect they work against.
