OK, so we have:
When "Gladiator Beast Darius" is flipped face-down, its effect disappears and the effects of the Special Summoned "Gladiator Beast" monster are no longer negated. If "Gladiator Beast Darius" is removed from the field while face-down, the Special Summoned "Gladiator Beast" monster will not be returned to the Deck.
This is further supported by:
The "Gladiator Beast" monster Special Summoned by "Gladiator Beast Darius" is continually targeted by its effect.
So, it would look like Darius needs to stay face-up on the field in order to negate the effects of the summoned Gladiator ( the negation working like a continuous effect ).
But why, then, do we have:
If "Bottomless Trap Hole" is chained when "Gladiator Beast Darius" is Special Summoned and activates its effect, the selected "Gladiator Beast" monster is still Special Summoned and its effects are negated. ????
If the negation is a continuous effect and needs Darius face-up on the field, why would it still apply after Darius has been removed by BTH? And if we consider that the negation is "placed" on the Gladiator when the effect of Darius summons it, why would it no longer apply if we flip Darius face-down ?
At a glance, these rulings seem contradictory. Am I missing some point here ?
Thanks
Carlos
