This day, is meant for the people (like me) who use a WATER-deck. Also, others who'd like to read it are welcome. Granadora: 1900 ATK-beatstick, with a STRANGE look and a STRANGE effect.
Granadora
IOC-030
Reptile / WATER / Level 4 / 1900 ATK / 1700 DEF / Effect
When this monster is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned or Special Summoned successfully, increase your Life Points by 1000 points. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard you take 2000 points of damage.
As I already said"¦ It is a strange effect. Like other cards, its effect can be abused. With this card, you can trick it with first doing a Normal or Special Summon to gain 1000 LP, and then flip it face-down, and then Flipsummon it to gain 1000 LP again, and keep going with flipping as long as you can, to increase your LP long enough. However, the less nice part is, if you lose it immidiately by a card like Card Destruction or an effect then sends it directly from your Deck to the Graveyard (like Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower), you DON'T gain the LP, you just lose it.
Now about the rulings:
1) For the first effect (gaining Life Points), it is the controller of "Granadora" who gains. For the second effect (losing Life Points), it is the owner of "Granadora" who takes damage.
2) When your face-down "Granadora" is destroyed, you take 2000 damage.
3) When your "Granadora" is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against the damage.
4) When "Granadora" is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard from the field, your hand, or from your Deck, its effect is activated.
5) When "Granadora"'s Summon is negated and it is destroyed, by "Solemn Judgment" or "Horn of Heaven", the owner of "Granadora" takes the damage.
6) [Re: Barrel Behind the Door] You can activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against Trigger Effects like "Lava Golem", "Giant Germ", "Relinquished" (when it inflicts effect damage, since "Barrel Behind the Door" can be activated during the Damage Step because it is a Counter-Trap Card), "Minar" (when discarded), "Parasite Paracide" (when it inflicts effect damage), "Bowganian", "Mushroom Man #2", "Reflect Bounder" (when it is attacked), "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane" (when it attacks and destroys a Defense Position monster and sends it to the Graveyard), "Granadora" (when destroyed and sent to the Graveyard), "Balloon Lizard" (when destroyed), "KA-2 Des Scissors", "Needle Burrower", "Atomic Firefly", "Elephant Statue of Disaster", and "Ameba".
The rulings should confirm what I already said (do they?) and make it a bit more clear.
In WATER-decks, it fits perfectly. 1900 ATK, WATER"¦ combined with A Legendary Ocean you've got a Level 3 2100 ATK beatstick, which will beat even some Level 5 monsters, while the Level 4+ cards can't attack when you also have Gravity Bind or Level Limit - Area B on the field.
His greatest (and your greatest) enemy: getting destroyed. A blow of 2000 LP is something nobody likes, unless there are cards who can switch your LP with your opponent's LP.
Pro's:
- 1900 ATK, 1700 DEF
- You gain 1000 (or said in another way: 1K) LP when his is Normal, Flip or Special Summoned
- He will be Level 3 with 2100 ATK and 1900 DEF when ALO is on the field
- He is common in IOC
Con's:
- You lose 2000 LP when he is destroyed
My ratings for Granadora:
Advanced Format: 3/5 There are 1800 WATER-beatsticks around who give less risk
Traditional Format: 2/5 Getting riskier with Ring of Destruction out
Graphics: 3/5. Good, but not more
Now, the example of a Deck he could fit in:
Tribute Monsters (5x)
Suijin (2x) Great effect, with 2500 ATK. With ALO on the field he is just 1 Tribute
Mobius the Frost Monarch (2x) Great effect, great ATK
Giga Gagagigo (1x) Über for a (with ALO on the field) Level 4 monster
Non-tribute monsters (17x)
Granadora (2x) See the article
Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 (2x) Direct ATK with quite a high ATK
Aqua Spirit (1x) Special Summon&her effect
Gagagigo (2x) Another Beatstick
Jowls of Dark Demise (2x) His effect is GREAT!
Nightmare Penguin (2x) Nice effect is the main reason
Penguin Soldier (2x) His effect"¦ where everyone will have heard of, I think
Yomi Ship (2x) Just in case there is a attack of a strong monster of the opponent
Tsukuyomi (1x) Same reason as Book of Moon
Magician of Faith (1x) Getting ALO, BWSW back
Spells (15x)
A Legendary Ocean (3x) Necessary, don't you think?
Big Wave Small Wave (2x) Helpful to get another monsters on the field (Especially Suijin and Giga Gagagigo)
Salvage (2x) Getting Nightmare Penguin, Yomi Ship, Penguin Soldier, Jowls of Dark Demise and Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 back to the hand
Book of Moon (1x) Ability to use the effect of monsters again
Giant Trunade (2x) To return cards to the hand, instead of destroying them
Heavy Storm (1x) In case something REALLY worse comes up
Mystical Space Typhoon (1x) To destroy some of the more annoying S/T cards
Level Limit - Area B (2x) To protect against the opponent
Premature Burial (1x) Calling back monsters (Suijin and Giga Gagagigo)
Traps (8x)
Barrel Behind the Door (3x) To Shift the damage of Granadora to the opponent
Call of the Haunted (1x) Calling back monsters (Suijin and Giga Gagagigo)
Magic Jammer (2x) Protect against MST and Heavy Storm
Seven Tools of the Bandit (2x) In case ALO "˜meets' cards like CSotFS*
* Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell
The reason why I won't put Levia or ODL in such a Deck, is because you sometimes must destroy the field, while you aren't completely prepared.
Hope you liked it.
