Greetings, I am The Advocate

The Advocate

The Prosecutor
As you may have guessed by my user name, I am an attorney and I enjoy playing and collecting Yugioh Cards. Although my profile reads wannabe, I have been playing for some time. I am enjoying the collecting part less and less as UpperDeck is purposely short filling each box with less supers and ultras to promote more sales of boosters and boxes. I can remember when I first started collecting, 1 box meant at least one of each card. I also felt the banned cards were not meant to even the tournament playing field but to promote the sales of more boosters because everyone played a set of staples and it was hurting sales but no one wants to talk about that. I thought I was pretty good until I attended my first regional tournament and finished 4-5 and one of the kids I beat didn't win any games and another one only won 1 match via forfeit. Then I realized studying Yugioh was as indepth as studying certain portions of the law; although reading some of the texts and applying strict construction I don't know how some of the rulings were made. We need elected rulings judges in our realms!

I wouldn't worry all that much, some of our more prestigous members include some great judges, as well as local judges, and we do have a few famous duelists I'm sure.

Yugioh is defiantly something you can't just "do", because playing the game is one thing, and gives you an idea of how a game works. Understanding the rules and how they come about, is the "idea", or set of rules you have to think by in order to succeed and become accomplished. It reminds me of learning a language, either you memorize the words and speak it for a semester, or you memorize the rules and speak it forever.

By the way, welcome to CoG.com, it's always a bustling place of different players, but you can choose anytime you want to interect with the site, and how so. I wish you luck!

Welcome. I see I don't have to tell you to check out our various areas since you've already familiarized yourself with much of the site. If you have any questions, let us know. We look forward to your input and suggestions.

The rules is what got me into the game. You will find that they are as fluid and open to interpretation sometimes as the law itself. You will enjoy it. As for building winning decks, it can be done easily by looking at the decks that do well, finding out how the combonations work and why, then (the harder part) making some of your own. I think you will be pleased to know that there is a good sized group of of us who strive for originality in our decks (rather than the same ol' cookis cutter decks). In fact, look for the "Cookie Cutter Collective" logo here on COG and you will find gallons of help in constructing a unique and powerful deck.

Welcome to the City!

Greeting and welcome to COG and if need help with rulings and cards you need or just what to talk we're always here if you need us and we do are best to help you out...

Welcome to COG

Please let us know how we can help you enjoy your time here. If you've any questions at all it's most likely there is a resident expert (or 6) that can help.

Feel free to post your thoughts on collecting in the collectors area or your questions regarding rules in it's area.

As has been mentioned, you might very well find if you get in depth with the rules that it will make you a VERY strong player, it will certainly change the way your construct your deck and play it.
