Guardian Baou / Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou

Guardian Baou
Effect Monster (Fiend / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 800 / DEF 400)

This card can only be Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned when there is a "Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou" on your side of the field. Each time this card destroys 1 of your opponent's monsters and sends it to the Graveyard as a result of battle, increase the ATK of this card by 1000 points. Also, the effects of an Effect Monster that this card destroys as a result of battle are negated.

Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou
Equip Spell

Send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to equip this card. Increase the ATK of a monster equipped with this card by 500 points. If a monster equipped with this card destroys a monster as a result of battle, the effect of that monster is negated.

This week will be a little different as it's a 2-for-1 shot as we look at the Guardians and their Weapons.

"Guardian Baou" has a pair of nice effects in that he negates the effect of monsters he destroys as well as gaining 1000 ATK each time he does. His initial stats are horrible and will need a little help to get him going (or hopefully, some Scapegoats). He's a Fiend and Dark so plenty of support there for those types as well.

"Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou" is also an excellent Equip Card to have in your deck regardless if you run the Guardian. It's downside is that you have to send a card from your hand in order to activate it. But on the flip side, the monster it is equipped to does gain 500 ATK (which is decent) and also shares in the same "Effect Negating" effect that "Guardian Baou" has.

All and all, one of the best Guardian pairs of the set.

guardian boau looks like a good monster to have.. in fact all the guardian monsters would be great because they are like one of the coolest monsters to have.. I tried making a deck of guardian like raphael did:D hehe but it just didnt work cuz well i dont know.. just didnt work cuz  of that stupid chaos monster.. and the 1900 attackers.... oh well, i just ill have to make another deck type.. oh maybe TOONS!:) haha... but i would really want to make one cuz of the new tooooons and support we got.. argh cant way:p

I have tried several guardian decks and the one I liked the best was my dino deck it was fast swarming and had great trample. it's a shame I discovered zombies and had to diband the blast from the past.

guardian baou is a great monster if you can bring him out. I found ceasfire and book of tao to be good to include due to guardians can be set with out the correct equip card in play. then flipped with another effect and they get to stay.

Baou's subtype has the added support of Bark of Dark Ruler. Simply pay whatever is necessary to get him that initial boost and your in business. Other inventive ways to get past the miserable 800 starting attack are things like Micro Ray and Curse of Anubis.

Baou can be an interesting sideboard card for those people who prefer not to deal with low atk/def flip effect monsters (Magician of Faith, for example) with the normal Nobleman of Crossout or Mystic Swordsman (warriors..bleh!)

One note: many people jump too quickly into assuming that Ojama Trio will be a good way to start him. Please read the text carefully and note that the monster destroyed by Baou must be sent to the Graveyard, in order to trigger his attack boost.

unknownforce - try Arsenal Summoner and Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu for help with guardians, hehe

A Guardian/Equip deck sounds like fun, although I'm not sure how practical it is.

Now that's more my style. Get a couple of him in a Fiend-deck with a few of his equips and Bark of Dark Ruler and we're in business! Sounds like a lot of fun. And he's searchable by Mystic Tomato to boot (if Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou is on the field).

Excellent support from being Dark/Fiend and all that "negate effect when destroyed in battle" stuff fits in really well anyway since Dark Ruler Ha Des has it built in.
