What Would Happen If You Equiped Heart Of Clear Water To A Spirit Reaper?

"Spirit Reaper" will be destroyed by his own effect. If "Skill Drain" is Active, then "Spirit Reaper" won't die in battle or by the effect of a card that designates a target.

I think the key question here is/was does "Spirit Reaper"'s effect of self destruction target itself? "Heart of Clear Water" ALSO states the equipped monster is not destroyed by an effect that designates a target.

But it doesn't matter anyway you look at it. From the UDE FAQ:
""Spirit Reaper" is destroyed if equipped, including with "Heart of Clear Water"."

To answer the general question: When a card refers to itself (Sinister Serpent, Vampire Lord, Spirit Reaper, etc.), it does not target itself (for those effects looking for targeting effects).
