Heart Of Exodia

This is the exodia deck I play with as of now. It basically revolves around Heart of the Underdog. It can also be considered a stall too. I added Card Destruction in this deck to throw away any unnecessary cards in my hand I dont need or just to simply start a chain for Heart of the Underdog. Keep in mind that I have Pot of Avarice in this deck to bring back the pieces from the graveyard to the deck if they are ever sent there by either an opponents effect or by my Card Destruction. The Dark Door helps in the sense that if my opponent brings out something with 2200+ attacks points, I will stall as much as I can. Every other spell and trap card I have in this deck basically stalls so that I can start a chain for Heart of the Underdog. It works, not all the time, but most of the time.

I hope you people out there rate this deck or even give advice if needed for either deck. Thanks in advance!

one thing that may burst your bubble is that Heart of the Underdog only works during your draw phase so Card Destruction and Magical Mallet won't work with it.

you should use Reload instead because it can be activated during your draw phase.

your deck isn't running enough normal monsters to bring out the full affectiveness of Heart of the Underdog.

my Heart of the Underdog exodia deck rns 3 Reloads and 2 Monster Recovery to reuse Heart of the Underdogs effect again during the same draw phase to end the game quickly. I have spent over 10 minutes in my draw phase drawing cards and Reloading them back.

all you need to stall is big defensive monsters (2100def) and 1900 atk monsters to get rid of cards like Drillroid, mystic swordsman, and Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke.

you really should run more normal monster and run Reload instead of Magical Mallet. and swap Card Destruction for Monster Recovery.

if you build this deck right then you should be able to get exodia your seconed or third turn.

don't just use Heart of the Underdog ABUSE the heck out of it.

while on most cases i would have to agree with u but the ruling on it says other wise (look at the second ruling)
Rulings

  1. Missing the Timing: Suppose you have 3 copies of "Heart of the Underdog" on the field, and draw a Normal Monster Card during your Draw Phase. All 3 copies of "Heart of the Underdog" immediately activate their effects, and because they activate simultaneously, they form a chain with Chain Links 1, 2, and 3. If you draw a Normal Monster card for Chain Link 3 or Chain Link 2, your copies of "Heart of the Underdog" do not activate again. This is because they are "when... you can" optional Trigger Effects, and you "miss the timing" because you drew the Normal Monster Card during a chain and not as Chain Link 1. However, if you draw a Normal Monster Card for Chain Link 1, all 3 copies of "Heart of the Underdog" will activate their effects again.
  2. "Heart of the Underdog" doesn't only activate if you draw a Normal Monster Card for your standard draw. It will also activate its effect if you draw a Normal Monster Card with a card effect such as "Reload", "Jar of Greed", or "Heart of the Underdog".
  3. When you draw a Normal Monster Card, if you want to activate the effect of "Heart of the Underdog" you have to show it to your opponent immediately. You can't do anything else in between.
  4. A Normal Monster Card means a yellow card with no effect. A Ritual Monster with no effect is not a Normal Monster Card. A card like "Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon" is not a Normal Monster Card.
  5. When you show a Normal Monster Card to your opponent to activate "Heart of the Underdog", your opponent can chain "Drop Off". You will have to discard that Normal Monster Card, but "Heart of the Underdog" still resolves its effect.
  6. If you draw multiple cards at the same time during your Draw Phase, such as with "Reload", only 1 of the cards needs to be a Normal Monster to trigger "Heart of the Underdog", since they are all drawn at the same time. If you activate "Reload" in your Draw Phase and draw 5 Normal Monster Cards, your "Heart of the Underdog" only activates 1 time because it says "card(s)".
  7. [Re: Null and Void] You can chain "Null and Void" to a Continuous Spell or Trap Card that causes drawing, such as "Mirage of Nightmare" or "Heart of the Underdog".

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking of putting 3 Reloads in these decks but didnt know what to take out. Also, after looking at Monster Recovery, it is a good card to work with HOTU but the downfall to it is that I wont have any defense to protect my life points with. The other spells and trap cards are needed because it will be those cards that I use to get rid of a threat.

I checked the ruling for HOTU and it does work for Card Destruction and Magicall Mallet.

Ruling

"Heart of the Underdog" doesn't only activate if you draw a Normal Monster Card for your standard draw. It will also activate its effect if you draw a Normal Monster Card with a card effect such as "Reload", "Jar of Greed", or "Heart of the Underdog".

Thus the card text in Card Destruction and Magical Mallet do say draw in its text. So I do think it counts for HOTUs effect to activate. Ill think about putting 3 Reloads. Im not so sure about the Monster Recoverys though. They sound iffy but so does a Card Destruction in an Exodia deck.

You have alot of low level normal monsters... perhaps Enchanting Fitting Room?

Maybe you should read the ruling more better and it does work out of your draw phase.

No, he's right. It ONLY activates during Draw Phrase, since Jar of Greed is a Trap card and Reload is a Quick-play, it can both be activated during Draw Phrase and thus works. Stuff like Mallet, Graceful, Card Destruction, etc. does NOT work. ANd thus the ruling examples DIDN'T mention them. You read the card text carefully before you read the rulings please. (Another example is Pot of Greed, which is quick-play, but that's banned)

Actually it's in the card text that it only works durig your Draw Phase. BUT, it doesn't have to be for your normal draw. Which is why it can triggger itself again if you draw another Normal Monster for it initially.

So pretty much for this deck, the opponent plays a Mobius/Phoenix and you are pretty screwed, fix your field control.

Yeah what he said. What it means is, if you draw multiple cards DURING your Draw Phase, then yeah, multiple Heart of the Underdog can be triggered. But like we're saying you cannot activate Mallet, Graceful, Card Destruction, etc. during draw phase.

So pretty much 3x Reload and 3x Jar of Greed is your only option here.

And you might think you get that effect off consistently, but it doesnt pop out as much as you think it does, consider a Solemn Wishes, flame princess, Heart of the Underdog deck. That works alot faster in terms achieving its goal and its iffy at best with the engine you are using.

Hmmm, Thanks for clearing that up with me guys. I mustve read the text wrong sorry. Looks like I need to rebuild this deck all over again. I think Solemn Wishes would help me out here. I might put it in. As for Enchanting Fitting Room, I think its a great card but iffy. Ill think of putting that card in also. Ill update soon! Thanks again guys!

I fixed both my exodia decks. The first is basically a stall HOTU exodia deck. Its safer to use then my other more risky exodia deck which would abuse the HOTU effect. Only downfall, I need HOTU in the beginning turns to abuse its effect rather than to stall and wait to pull it out in the first deck. If you have anymore suggestions, fell free to comment!
