Herald of Creation and Sacred Phoenix

Is Sacred Phoenix considered to be "destroyed by card effect" if sent to the graveyard as a cost for Herald of Creation's card effect?

Uh.. I don't have that card next to me for reference, but unless it says "destroy" in herald's effect, it's not counted as destroyed.

Once per turn you can discard 1 card from your hand to add 1 Level 7 or higher monster in your Graveyard to your hand.

It doesn't say "destroy", so no. Discard =\= Destroy.
