Houston regionals

guess what?
yeah just got top 8 at my third regionals but didn't make it past first round of the top 8. anyways i wanted to know if anybody here went to houston regionals and how they did and also i wanted to know if anybody knows why they weren't giving out the sjc judges mat (not that i don't want the one i got its just the sjc judges mat looks better:icon_mrgr)
 
I went, I was wearing the Pojo hockey jersey. I went 4-4 with my friend Steven's Final Countdown deck. I hate to blame losses on bad luck...but I had some horrible luck (and my opponent's had great luck). I'm never going to a regional at Midnight Comics again though...195 people in a comic store? I had to stand up to play in Round 3, they had plywood on top of comic boxes in the back of the store.
 
oh yeah i would have to agree with the not ever returning there unless it was at a different place and i was there with thomas (the asian guy) but i was wondering if u could u tell me and everbody else here about the first round game from the eyes of ur opponent:biggrin_j
 
Hahaha!!! Yeah, I'm going to have to do that later. I heard him telling some kid later that he won a Shonen Jump, so apparently there's something mentally wrong with him. So, who were you there? I assume you saw me, did I see you? I suck at remembering names at these events.
 
i was the asian guy in the black jacket and red back pack who standing outside with u and some others just as ur opponent started to tell the amazing story of how he won the first round
 
Ok, I remember now. Yeah, that was funny stuff.

So there we were, Round 1. I had 5 Spirit Reapers on the field, Final Countdown was at turn 19, and I had an anvil hanging over his mom's head. I end my turn. Just then, the cartoon image of Yugi shows up and puts his hand over my opponent's hand as he draws the glowing card on the top of his deck. Fire shoots out from his eyes as he draws and then shows me the card he drew: Pot of Greed. I laugh and say "sorry, but that's banned" but then Kevin Tewart and Ian Estrin drive up in an official UDE van and say that they've allowed him to use Pot of Greed for this one match. He then draws two cards which are Fairy Meteor Crush and Diffusion Wave Motion. He equips Fairy Meteor Crush to his Silent Magician LV 8, and as he does, the doors fly open and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader come into the room and start making out with everybody. Then he plays Diffusion Wave Motion, and as he does, a glowing golden hand comes down from the sky. It's the Hand of God, and he high fives my opponent before going back to Heaven. My opponent attacks, and the walls are blown out by the force of the wind as his monster attacks all of mine and takes me to 0.

According to him anyway...
