How lame ... MC2 [UDE/Konami Rant]

After much waiting (why, I don't know) we finally got MC2 in the stores around here this week. I bought my obligatory one, and was actually shocked at something:

- The cards in the packs are OLD! I mean, this is nothing but packs taken from unsold boxes or something. No "EN" code on the cards, the exact same text as the originals, even though hundreds of them have been changed since then.

I'm extremely disappointed. I was really hoping we could update our database to put the "EN"s on the remaining boosters, but then we would be wrong.

*sigh* Just when I thought things couldn't get any lamer than "Forbidden Legacy 1". I guess it's time to face the facts that they really are just dumping old unsold garbage on us now. At least with MC1 they were NEW packs with NEW cards and NEW text. This was just .. a waste of my time.

If anyone gets/sees MC2 booster pack cards that HAVE the "EN"s on them, I would really like to know about it.

Oh, and I've never seen cards as curled as these promos are. Did they store these things in New Orleans or something? Practically dripping with moisture. Pathetic. I need to leave these out for a couple weeks and iron them before adding them into the collection. They'll wreck my other cards like this.

Is it really that bad? Dripping wet? That's discouraging.

The fact that there is no "EN"... That kind of disappoints me. A lot. And to top it off, it makes no sense. Then again... Nevermind. I don't want to start things. ;)

And the fact that they were putting the movie pack in there didn't tell you that this one was all about dumping unsold stock? :tssk:

Sorry of my ignnorance, Im writting from Mexico City, what the complete name of the MC 2 exp, you are talking about????

I thought it was Master Collection 2? And doesn't EN have to do with being English? And one more question: Exactly what Daivy said.

See at first, I figured getting MC2 would be worth it because of the promos and the packs. Usually it seems that with Tins and things like this, people pull a lot of Super/Ultra Rares. Now that we know that they're just old stock, I'm a tad discouraged...

Where was the old stock when MC1 came out? Where did this old stock suddenly come from?

The unlit shelf in the back of Wal-Mart where no one ever actually goes, hence no one ever reports the roaches back there? Yeah, you'd be surprised what you can find deep within the confines of Wal-Mart.

I bought the Gilford the Lightning Tin and got 2 Supers and an Ultra from the packs.

Remember that there was a much bigger gap between those sets and the release of MC1 that there has been for MC2 and its sets.

*checks his platinum case*
Hey, you're right, the cards aren't numbered EN
..that's odd
though the packs do say "English Version" one says "English Version for US and Canada" but I don't know when they started doing that :/

Think they stopped doing the whole "English version for US and Canada" when they removed the whole you can only use cards from your own region restriction, think they had started doing it by the time you could get LOB-E cards.

At first I was the same way. I thought, "Hey and easy to get breaker, nice." And then I found out that he is going to be common in the spellcaster structure deck so why bother.
Because this one is shiny. Simple as that.

Why? Why go get shiny breaker, when some dumb@$$ kid at the comic book store is just gonna cut your deck by throwing the cards all over the floor, then picking them up by squeezing them tightly in his palms? Honestly, in all cases where there is a cheaper version of a card, your deck should contain that version. Shinies are ONLY for binders, IMHO, and binders already contain MFC breaker, why do we need this guy?

For once I must agree with you :D. I have a most massive collection of cards, and still refrain from using anything but the cheapest most common version of something in an actual deck.

Aside from the "they gets da br0ked" thing, I also have become quite aware over the years (has it been that long?) of the diadvantages of both the 'holo-set' and 'holo-ooooo' problems when dueling.

'holo-set': When your opponent sets a card and you know exactly what it is based on how much it's popping up from the table.

'holo-oooooo': When you know your opponent just drew that nice shiny card since they're wiggling it around under the light to experience the full effect of it's beauty.

I've both won because of (many times) and lost from (a few times until I learned) these disadvantages. They exist!
