How to know if an Effect is Multi-Trigger or not?

I guess the Topic Name suggests clearly what I wanna know about!

How to know if a Monster Effect is Multi Trigger Effect or not?
One thing I know is that, Multi Trigger Effect Monsters can take part more than 1 time in the same chain unless a counter trap was activated in it! LADD is an Exception and can take part only once.

Is that the only way to know if the monster is Multi-Trigger or not. But it isn't always written in the card text..T_T

All the Multi-Trigger Effect Monsters that I know of, can have their effects activated in either player's turn. So, Can all Multi-Trigger Effects be activated in either player's turn? or are there any multi-trigger effect monsters, that can be activated only in 1 of the player's turn? If a card text says, this effect can be used in either player's turn...then is it a Multi-Trigger Effect Monster?

Sorry for my stupid questions, but I always wanted to clarify this ^^! and I don't think I am the only person having trouble in identifying if a certain monster's effect is Multi-Trigger or not and I have never seen an Article on Multi-Trigger Effects.

ThanQ in Advance for the explanation

A Multi-Trigger effect can be used whenever you can activate a generic Normal Trap Card (i.e. one without activation conditions), except during damage calculation. That is, you can activate them at any time you want (provided you're not trying to chain to a Counter Trap Card or such).

If a Multi-Trigger effect can only be used in a specific Phase, or in a specific turn (player's or opponent's), then it will say so. The default is that a Multi-Trigger effect can be activated at any time except damage calculation.

The phrase "You can use this effect during either player's turn" (or something similar) usually does mean it's a Multi-Trigger effect, as far as I'm aware.

I'm not great on Multi-Trigger effects (i.e. which cards have them). I know how they work, though: Spell Speed 2, activate whenever (as I've said a few times).

I need to get the STP up and running, so things like this can be understood better.

So, does that mean that LADD can't chain to Shrink if Shrink is activated in the Damage Step? wow, I always thought it could chain to Shrink in the Damage Step

hmm...when you said Damage Calculation, did u mean Exactly Damage Calculation or just referring to the Damage Step?

Damage Step, then. It and damage calculation kinda merged in my mind, hence my confusion.

• "Light and Darkness Dragon's" second effect that negates the activation of Spell, Trap, and the effects of Effect Monsters is a Multi-Trigger Effect. "Light and Darkness Dragon" loses 500 ATK and DEF when its effect is resolved, after negating the activation of the Spell, Trap, or effect of the Effect Monster. This effect can be activated during the Damage Step.
It seems Light and Darkness Dragon works a little differently*. It's a mandatory Multi-Trigger, which might explain why it works in the Damage Step.

* Who's really surprised that there's an exception to how Multi-Triggers work? Everything has exceptions, obviously; this is Yu-Gi-Oh!. Not to mention that Light and Darkness Dragon's text doesn't say it activates during the Damage Step. Or that it activates once per Chain.

If an effect says that it can be activated during either player's turn (or during your opponent's turn), then it's usually a Multi-Trigger. Otherwise, you should generally assume that an effect is a Trigger or an Ignition effect, unless you are told otherwise.

Also, I wouldn't say that Multi-Triggers can't be activated during the Damage Step in general. A quick flip through such effects shows that most can be activated during the Damage Step. It looks like ones that can't are mainly,

A) effects that can be activated at any time ("Strike Ninja", "D.D. Crow", "Charm of Shabti"), unless it modifies ATK/DEF ("Rainbow Dragon")
B) effects with really specific activation requirements ("Gemini Imps", "Gravekeeper's Watcher", "Dragonic Knight")

Other than those and certain BKSS cards ("Ryu Senshi"), most Multi-Trigger effects can be activated during the Damage Step.

For the most part, the only Multi-Triggered Effects that can be activated during the Damage Step are those that negate the activation of whatever they negate, or those that are specifically designed to work at that time ("Lily"). If they only negate the effect ("Ryu Senshi", "Dark Balter"), then they cannot be activated during the Damage Step.

There are, of course, exceptions to this which end up being BKSS issues.
