The question that came up for us during the pre-release was if there is only one
beast type monster in the graveyard when two monster were tributed for
Behemoth The King of all Animals can the player return the one beast type monster
in their graveyard?
The card text of Behemoth The King of all Animals states ".....you can return to
the owner's hand a number of Beast-Type monster EQUAL to the number of tributed
monsters.
Behemoth the King of All Animals
"This card can be Normal Summoned or Set with 1 Tribute Monster. In that case,
the original ATK of this card becomes 2000. When this card is Tribute Summoned
successfully, you can return from your Graveyard to the owner's hand a number
of Beast-Type monsters equal to the number of Tributed monsters."
Answer:
If you Tribute 2 monsters to Summon "Behemoth the King of All Animals" and you
only have 1 Beast-Type Monster in your Graveyard... you cannot return it to its
owner's hand.
The wording "equal to" means just that. The number of Beast-Type monsters you
return from your Graveyard to their owner's hand has to be equal to the number
of monsters you Tributed to Summon the Behemoth. (No alternatives)
2 Tributes - 2 Beasts returned
1 Tribute - 1 Beast returned
