Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer, LON-EN062

Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
(DARK/Spellcaster/4/1800/700)
Each time this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, you can remove from play up to 2 Monster Cards in your opponent's Graveyard. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot remove from play any cards in either Graveyard.

Welcome to today's Card of the Day, Kycoo. Kycoo is another one of those cards that saw a lot of tech play during Nationals. I'll tell you right now "“ I'm a bit biased when it comes to Kycoo seeing as how he is one of my favorite cards. Nevertheless, I'll expose his weaknesses too.

Let's start with his main effect. You know, the part where your opponent can't mess with taking cards out of the Graveyard from play? Yeah, that's the reason he saw so much play; anti-BLS is fine with everyone. Not only does Kycoo prevent BLS's summon, he also prevents Book of Life from activating as well, all assuming he was on the field before the cards activated. Heck, he also prevents Bazoo the Soul-Eater and all of the other LON Out-Of-Play-Madness cards, which is when he was released.

Putting that effect aside, let's take a look at his stats: He's DARK, which means Chaos food, a definite gateway into the typical Side-Deck. He's 4-stars, so that gives him pluses and minuses, and he has 1800 ATK. That's good enough to take down the Assailant (and go with him), D. D. Survivor, Warrior Lady, un-powered Blade Knights, and others. 1800 ATK gets you places. 700 DEF doesn't"¦ It prevents Smashing Ground, more often than not, but Tsukuyomi and Book of Moon have field days with this. In short, they pwn Kycoo. Oh, and he's a Spellcaster which"¦ uh"¦ ("psst, do Spellcasters have support?" "... What you talkin' 'bout Willis?" "Dude, my name's not Willis..." "Well... No, they don't sorry" "'Kay, thanks") Makes him a Spellcaster"¦ '_';;

Kycoo's final effect isn't as useful as a tech effect. To really abuse it, you need to use about three Kycoo's and a few Graverobber's Retribution. Basically, a Kycoo deck. (It's possible, I've done it"¦ Sort of"¦ In here *points to head*.) It does have its upsides in a regular deck. That is, it hurts your opponent's Premature Burial, Call of the Haunted, Sinister Serpent, Night Assailant, Monster Reborn (Traditional), and BLS, to an extent. Before he was errata'd, he could remove Spells and Traps too, and you can imagine the possibilities with that. The main problem to this is that a single Scapegoat can make his life a lot harder without an Enemy Controller or something. Be wary of Dimension Fusions and Return from the Different Dimension when you use that effect too"¦

Ratings:
Traditional Side Deck: 4.5/5. Chaos Emperor Dragon, Monster Reborn, AND Black Luster Soldier? Yes, please.

Advanced Side Deck: 4/5. Black Luster Soldier, Premature, Call, etc"¦ Still good.

Kycoo Abuse Deck: 3/5. He's needed here, but the deck would need a lot of thought.

Art: 5/5. (Bias) Totally sweet art. Possessed monk, looks like to me"¦ Now if only I knew what that kanji in the back was"¦
