Last Will + Creature Swap

Question,

You activate Last Will.

Then you swap your Recruiter monster (Tomato, Pyramid, Rat, etc.) with Creature Swap, and then you attack your monster with the stolen monster.

Will Last Will effect activate?

I thought it didn't at first, but then this is the ruling.

- You can apply the effect of "Last Will" as long as a monster on your side of the field is (or was) sent to your Graveyard, no matter which Phase it was in. As long as it's the same turn in which you activated "Last Will".

At first by this ruling, it's not possible, but then my friend pointed out the (or was) part, and since his Recruiter "was" on his field once, THEN activated Swap to switch it, it's perfectly legal.

Just want to make sure who's right. (He won the ruling BTW)

Last Will's text is describing the monster in past tense; it assumes that your monster has already been sent to the Graveyard. You still get your searcher's effect, but to get Last Will, you'd have to sac the stolen monster.

You can Special Summon for "Last Will" if a monster was Tributed for a Tribute Summon, or for "Cannon Soldier's" effect, etc.

Sorry, but the stolen monster will go to your opponent's Graveyard. "Last Will" requires it to go to your Graveyard. There's no way to trigger "Last Will's" effect in this situation.

Hope this helps!

Then they SHOULD take out that blasted "or was" text. Or explain it better. Cause when the judges read that (When they search it on the internet) they think "If the monster was on their field, then got switched to the opponent field".

Last Will
If a monster on your side of the field was sent to your Graveyard this turn, you can Special Summon 1 monster with an ATK of 1500 points or less from your Deck once during this turn. Then shuffle your Deck.
I don't see any 'or was' text.

And the text clearly states where the monster must have been and where it must go....

He said it was in a ruling. More precisely, it's the 5th ruling of Last Will.

Let's break it down....

You can apply the effect of "Last Will" as long as a monster on your side of the field is sent to your Graveyard, no matter which Phase it was in. As long as it's the same turn in which you activated "Last Will".

OR

You can apply the effect of "Last Will" as long as a monster on your side of the field was sent to your Graveyard, no matter which Phase it was in. As long as it's the same turn in which you activated "Last Will".

In both cases, it clearly states where the monster must have been (on your side of the field), and where is must go (to your Graveyard).

I don't see the confusion......sorry.

Your friend is trying to find a loophole. Simple as that. The monster must go from your side of the field to the Graveyard. Do not pass Go; do not collect $200.

How the ruling reads:

- You can apply the effect of "Last Will" as long as a monster on your side of the field is (or was) sent to your Graveyard, no matter which Phase it was in. As long as it's the same turn in which you activated "Last Will".

How your friend's interpretation of this would read:

- You can apply the effect of "Last Will" as long as a monster which is (or was) on your side of the field is sent to your Graveyard, no matter which Phase it was in. As long as it's the same turn in which you activated "Last Will".

Really. It's that simple.

There's just no way I would confuse the fact that the monster must be sent from your side of the field, and end up in your Graveyard, which means you can't tribute your opponents monster, and you cannot destroy your monster on your opponent side of the field.
