Looking Ahead 14 - Enishi

Once again, we take only a short trip ahead to Gladiator's Assault for this card.

Councilor of Shien - Enishi
Light/Warrior/6/2200/1200
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summon except by removing 2 "Six Samurai" monsters from your Graveyard from the game. Once per turn, you can destroy 1 face-up monster on the field. If this effect is activated, this card cannot declare attack during this turn.

Where From: Gladiator's Assault
Likely TCG Appearance: Gladiator's Assault

Why yes, it does look a lot like "Chaos Sorcerer". Further, like all the "new" versions of that card, it's been toned down from the original. The stats are a little weaker, the monster is destroyed instead of removed from play, and it's a Nomi.

However how does this card fit in as a support card for the Six Samurai? I would say it's actually better for the OCG rather than the TCG just because we have "Grandmaster of the Six Samurai" while they don't. With Grandmaster around, you really want to keep your Six Samurai in the Graveyard in order to get them back with Grandmaster's effect. Further this card isn't a "Six Samurai" monster so he doesn't gain any of the benefits of any of the Support cards nor will he trigger any other "Six Samurai" effects.

Of course this card could provide an alternative way of thinking about the "Six Samurai". Card Trooper can feed monsters to the Graveyard, while this card can remove them from play and then use Return from the Different Dimension to swarm for game. Wow, sounds like a Bazoo/Trooper themed deck. Plus the "Six Samurai" usually can swarm well enough on their own. Or perhaps we can get a flash back to the "Chaos Sorcerer" + Monarch days (The Six Monarchs? Jinzo can be used to fill in for the Dark Monarch).

I really am mixed on this card. The stats are strong enough and can attack over many monsters. For the rest, it can simply destroy. However it really is more of a mid to late game monster when your resources have been mostly spent and you need some muscle for that final push. I might run 1 in a Six Samurai deck just because it isn't bad. But it does little for the Six Samurai in the TCG just because Grandmaster filled the need they had a lot better.

2.5 out of 5. Like I said, it's not bad, just doesn't really help support the theme other than providing a free summon. One of the few times I can say, this is better in the OCG because of the cards they don't have.

Yeah, with this card, you can't really abuse Grandmaster or say the new trap card "Back to the Wall". Although this card + RftDD can combo somewhat well. (And not as bad as LP payment as Back to the Wall)
