Looking Ahead 17 - Gemini Imps

Another very short look ahead for this card. With the arrival of the first Premium Pack in the TCG, we finally gain access to some of the most sought after cards for players and collectors alike. While Marshmallon might be stealing the majority of the thunder for this set (and rightfully so), the card we're looking at here is perhaps one of the hidden gems of the set.

Gemini Imps
Dark/Fiend/4/1000/1000
Whenever your opponent activates an effect that includes having you discard from your hand, you may discard this card from your hand to the Graveyard to negate the activation and destroy the card. Then, draw 1 card from your deck.

Where From: Premium Pack 6 (OCG)
TCG Appearance: Premium Pack 1 (TCG)

This card is potentially even better than Dark World for shutting down Hand Control decks. If all this did was simply negate the effect, it would be an ok card (since you can control what was discarded). Since it destroys the other card as well, it is an added boon against monsters that cause discards like Thestalos. However, since after all that you actually get to draw a card to replace Gemini Imps pretty much means that you will always gain the advantage with this card. Of course if your opponent isn't running any Discard effects, this monster becomes little more than Crush Card Virus food. (Of course with Trap Dustshoot being the most popular hand disrupter outside of Thestalos right now, this card will do little to stop that since nothing is being discarded).

1 is definitely techable, and it's a very solid Side Deck card to run multiples. Definitely one of the better cards in the Premium Pack and worth giving a try.

3.5 out of 5. While it may not fit in just every deck, the effect is very good and well worth it when you get it off. Consider it as an alternative to Dark World against Discard decks and also when you want to shut down other recyclable effects you might try such as Morphing Jar or Card Destruction.

See, fiends ALWAYS get the great effects! This would really shut down the Donny Zs and Spirit Reapers still lingering in the game. Its Sangan searchable too, which is always a plus. A bit situational, but always nice.

Say, is Death Calibre Knight going to make your queue?

Yikes! This is going to shutdown my mill deck... I'm doomed! It can negate an effect of a monster, spell or trap that would cause a discard. Ack!

Seems like a great Morphing Jar killer... I have a set Morphing Jar, my opponent attacks... flips Morphing Jar and I snicker, then he discards Gemini Imp and I gasp.

EDIT: seems way better than Gravekeeper's Watcher

WOAH! Never even heard of that card. But yeah, this card can TOTALLY replace random Goldd's in sidedeck. (Goldd does have a tendancy of being dead cards unless your foe runs multiple discard effects) Seriously, some people don't even run Morphing Jar/Card Destruction and then no Dark World Lightning/Dealings and run Goldd just for tech against Thestalos and your opponent's Jar. (Jar is popular these days)

Yeah, not only it negates and DESTROY, but you draw a card after so it's a -1 for foe and +0 for you. And if dark field means it can be Sky Scourage food. (either of them) And yes, Crush Card Virus... for those who are really rich to own one. Or just summon and attack directly for 1000 or face-down set for meat shield. Alot more flexable then Goldd who MUST be discarded by an effect or be tributed with Treeborn Frog to be any use.

I do agree that Marshmellon (And Shield Crush) are like 9~10/10 ratings in my book, I'll give this card a solid 8~8.5 out of 10 if I bother reviewing it.
