Yeah, I'm on a roll here. This card is from the Limited Edition sets in Japan. Most of the Limited Edition cards that have appeared in the TCG either appeared as Shonen Jump promo cards, a few Sneak Preview cards (which later appeared in Shonen Jump), or some of the original Starter Decks. With the US receiving it's own Limited Edition set through Shonen Jump, it's possible that we may start receiving more of these cards in the future. (The 4 that we are getting in LE01 are all in fact OCG LE cards). This card is from the lastest (LE10) set.
Mystic Beast King - Barbaros
Earth/Beast-Warrior/8/3000/1200
This card can be Normal Summoned without sacrifice. If so, this card's original attack strength becomes 1900. If you sacrifice 3 monsters to sacrifice summoned this card, destroy all cards on opponent's field.
Where From: Limited Edition 10, Holy White Pack (Pack 2)
Likely TCG Appearance: Shonen Jump Magazine (As some promo deal)
Again, we look at a card with flexibility. Unlike most 2 Tribute Monsters, this card has no downside and can be viewed as an even better version of Fusilier Dragon. Being a Beast-Warrior allows you to abuse it with Enraged Battle Ox. Past that, let's break down the effects.
1) If you Normal Summon it without Tribute, you have a nice solid 1900 ATK monster.
2) If you decide to Tribute Summon it with 3 monsters, you get the Ojama Delta Hurricane!! effect (Raigeki + Harpie's Feather Duster). Wow. Ok, so you may not have 3 Monsters to Tribute, so you can use The Trojan Horse + 1 other. Or well, Treeborn Frog + Malicious could help too. Again though, it destroys all cards on your opponent's side of the field. Wow.
3) It's an 8 Star so, Metamorphisis into Cyber Twin Dragon. (Can you think of another 8 Star monster that is THIS easy to get to the field? I don't think so!)
4) Combo with Skill Drain, Normal Summon for a 3000 ATK beatstick. While we all know that you don't need huge monsters to win the game (Gadgets anyone?), I certainly wouldn't complain about having this powerhouse on my side.
Now, while Barbaros may not be as useful in just any deck, but again, he truly lacks any downside, will rarely be a bad topdeck, and can easily have a high tier deck built around him. Again, there's no guarentee that we would get him, however signs are encouraging that within a year or so that we could if Shonen Jump decides to keep up with Limited Edition packs.
4 our of 5 for yet another wonderful card.
