Machine Week - Reflect Bounder

Reflect Bounder
Level 4
Light/Machine
ATK: 1700 DEF: 1000
When this face-up Attack Position card is attacked by a monster on your opponent's side of the field
before damage calculation is resolved in the damage step, this card inflicts damage to your opponent's
Life Points equal to the ATK of the attacking monster. Then after damage calculation is resolved,
this card is destroyed.

Pros:
* Potential to do almost infinite damage (depending on the attacking monster)
* 1700 ATK which means it could most likely hold its own for a turn or two if your opponent decided not to attack.
* Outstanding Effect.
* Not negated by most cards (exceptions apply)

Cons:
* Opponent could attack with something like a Sinister Serpent and only take 300 damage back (although they'd take splashback)
* Destroyed at the end of the Damage step when it uses its effect.

It's destroyed after the Damage Calculation. o_O

That's some kind of a difference ^^
A D. D. Lady couldn't remove it 'cause it's already in the grave when the D. D. effect would resolve, therefore, it's one of the best LIGHT monsters in the game.. :)

I'd need to recheck Kevin's essay, but both effects may activate at the same point in time so depending on who the turn player is it may go in a chain...

Then again, it says it is destroyed at that point. Like a monster destroyed in battle, it may stay on the field until the end of the Damage Step even though it's considered "destroyed" in which case DDWL could still run in, grab it, and take both to the "Different Dimension" (aka Remove from play).

Then again, Dude... this wasn't even supposed to have been posted until NEXT week.

*sigh* Time to find a replacement machine.

Unless you activate Skill Drain or equip it with Heavy Mech Support Platform. Reflect Bounder makes a wonderful deterrent to your typical Beat Down crowd. It is great in a chaos deck, and murderous fun in a machine deck.

Restricted for a reason. Your opponent has two options when it hits the field: Attack it, and eat at least 1700 damage, or don't attack it, and leave a machine monster on the field. Either way, you're one step closer to victory. Literally. What do I mean? Either you'll only need about 2 machines on the field and one Limiter Removal (or the equivilent), or you'll have one less thing you need to summon in order to do a Limiter kill.

Ideally, you'll have a magic negation card or two to protect it from Smashing Ground, Change of Heart, Snatch Steal and the like. Divine Wrath would also be nice for XForce and TVirus. But of course, that just won't work out all the time...

Mechwarrior is right. As long as you battle Bounder, you confirm take 1700, but if you have a BBtD, things would be different. :D

hmmm, this card has one serious flaw. Which is you can attack it with ANYTHING, and it will still fall.

That's not a flaw at all. It provdies a very tempting target for your opponent to attack with say, sinister serpent, but they would be taking a total of 1700 pts of damage... which makes it very costy too.

It does what is made for really well, stalling and burning, with enough power to dish out some punishment too.

I absolutely Love this card. If they attack it, its AT LEAST 1700 to your opponent. It has a decent atk at 1700 but most of all It's a light and the effect is good for hitting them hard when they think they are being sneaky. Yeah... I definitey like Reflect Bounder, he has been a staple in quite a few decks for me since... well... since he came out... Good for almost any deck, especially Machines...... Have a Limiter removal down, and that attacker takes 3400 mandatory (Gotta Love it!!) and since he is going to die anyway.... it's like HA HA HA Gotcha on the way out SUUKKKAAA!!!

It would be nice to have a L.R. set, but I run a chaos-warrior deck not a machine deck so it would be kind of pointless. Best I can manage is rush recklessly!

Well, aside from my little stuff up in posting this at the wrong time...I'm glad to see that this "essay" has gotten alot of discussion...

Here's the Reflect Bounder VS D.D. Warrior Lady ruling...

If "Reflect Bounder" is attacked by "D. D. Warrior Lady", and the effect of "Reflect Bounder" is activated, "Reflect Bounder" inflicts damage, damage calculation is performed, and "Reflect Bounder" destroys itself with its own effect and is sent to the Graveyard, so even if "D. D. Warrior Lady" activates her effect, "Reflect Bounder" is not removed from play because it is already in the Graveyard.
So yeah, I stuffed up on that part...
