What is macrocosmos and why are there decks built around it? All I know is that it removes everything from play when it is sent to the graveyard...why not use banisher of light?

Macro Cosmos
Continuous Trap
You can Special Summon 1 "Helios - The Primordial Sun" from your hand or Deck. While this card is on the field, any card sent to the Graveyard is removed from play instead.
Aside from the fact that it can get Helious, it's just one more option that we never had before. Different strategy, and not subject monster removal.

Return from the Different Dimension, Gren Maju Da Eiza, Helios - The Primordial Sun, Golden Homunculus, Tyranno Infinity, Soul Absorption, Miraculous Descent, Chaos End, Chaos Greed, D.D. Scout Plane, D.D. Survivor, Dimension Distortion, Dimension Fusion, Graverobber's Retribution, etc.

Just use a whole bunch of cards that revolve around the Removed From Play area.

It is rather useful for those kinds of decks. Hopefull we'll be seeing more remove-from-play decks around.

(And hopefully less cookie-cutters.) :(

One fellow at my local club has been playing a rfp deck. Very irritating! Virtually no recursion, unless you have return from different dimension, and he uses it and fuels it faster than you do...I rather enjoy playing against it. You just have to assume that anything that hits the field is not going to be useable again. make for a very different style of play.

Basically, it's a S/T. S/T are alot more annoying to remove then monsters like Banishers cause everybody is running alot of monster counter cards. Not to mention monsters cost a "normal summon once per tun" while S/T cost none. I mean, would you rather summon Banisher, then wait for next turn to summon DDS, or just get on with Macro or Fissure + DDS immediately?

Macro Cosmos removes EVERYTHING from play. This also means dead MoF (If there's no spell cards in the grave) and Mask of Darkness along with possible Chaos Sorcerer (If there's no L/D from graveyard to special summon, which happens alot) , Sangan, Tomato, Newdoria, Night Ass, Goldd and other DW, Treeborn Frog, etc. etc. (Even Vamp Lord and SPoN although those two cards don't see play often these days) It's not actually the "remove from play" factor that's good, it's the fact that since it goes to RFP rather then the graveyard, every graveyard monster effects dies. And it removes spells from hitting the graveyard for MoF/Tsuku loop that's popular.

So far, I LOVE Macro Cosmos!! I use this card religiously in my Strike Ninja Deck. I've actually had this card played so many times, it's made me go searching for WC2006, but so far, I havent been able to find it anywhere (yeah, I know "eBay", but I want it NOW!!! lol).

This card will catch on, unless it gets limited come October.

It got a bit of hype from the OCG, but no word if it became a verstityle deck.

While yes Macrocosmos does fuel up RFTDD it doesnt mean that itll be successfull, Behind every Macrocosmos is usually a Grandcross / Torrential Tribute to make the RFTDD useless.

Macro Cosmos is indeed a fun deck to play. It's meta/anti-meta all in one. The problem I have with running it is that if your opponent beats you to a Return From the Different Dimension. Still, it's a fun deck and can be really powerful. Long live D.D. Survivor!

The thing about Macro Cosmos is, it allows you to play more aggressively. Since very few people are playing with Magic Cylinder or other cards that make you pay for attacking, you are less concerned with a Sakuretsu Armor or Mirror Force, and even Bottomless Trap Hole. Even setting face-downs is not a problem.

If your opponent isnt running the same thing, all he is doing is basically loading his opponents gun for him.

It also allows you to build decks that not only eliminate the Graveyard, but you can still maintain recursion through RftDD and Different Dimension Master. But likes drzero7 says, you have to build your deck for it. No searchers, No Premature, No MoF, etc...

Plus it opens doors. Gren Maju de Eiza can become a real powerhouse, Chaos End and Chaos Greed also become much easier to use. If you opponent is not ready to counter these, he will be stuck with a constantly dwindling resource pool as the Return player's resources increase.

Yes, it'll help your opponent with that too, but odds are you'll also be using it so it won't make that much of a difference. Besides, your opponent won't be expecting Macro Cosmos and such, and so will run cards like Magician of Faith that will become useless if all his Spell Cards are removed from play instead. Your Deck, however, won't contain such cards, since you're not expecting anything to be in your Graveyard.
